Keiko and O'Brien, should they have been divorced?

As for the "other" married couple, Worf/Jadzia, I wasn't really crazy about that pairing, mostly because I'm not a big Worf fan (he's such a stick in the mud!), but considering his last relationship was with Troi (worst pairing ever! and also, considering the bone-breaking sex he was having with Dax, how did he manage to not kill Troi when they were together?), anything was an improvement.

You know, as "soft" as Troi appeared to be, there's no reason to assume she's any less physically durable than Dax. A less skilled combatant and athlete and less interested in facing physical punishment, sure, but maybe not less capable of taking it. It's not like Betazoid/Humans and Trill are ever described as any more or less physically capable than the others. So maybe we just never saw her sheepish and painful visits to Beverly.

What I didn't buy is how Troi as an empath could handle or be attracted to the emotionally stunted with bursts of Klingon rage Worf. I would think an empath would need to be with an emotionally mature mate. I did not get Troi's attraction to Worf at all.

Jadzia was a better match. I think Jadzia really liked to play with her males, tease them, lead them on, be superior to them. She had a lot of fun with Worf because though he was vulnerable and she exploited this he was also a lot tougher than Julian and he could take it.

With Troi...I wonder if on some level she valued honesty, rather than humans who are always trying to hide what they feel? I have to imagine that humans would constantly be trying (however futilely) to shield themselves when she was around. I know if I were born human in that universe, I'd be wanting to learn whatever mental techniques the Cardassians have, that are so strong that they can even block a Vulcan mind meld, because I would be ALL about having mental privacy.

But for Troi, people's reacting that way would have to be wearying if not embarrassing on some level, and being around someone who was completely unashamed of his rawest feelings might actually be relaxing.

So she found him.. refreshing?

Okay I can buy that. But I think the novelty would wear off :rommie:

Yeah, I think "refreshing" and "raw" would be the words. I dunno that the novelty would wear off on HER end, necessarily, because the situation around her would not change.

My question would be more Worf, and what he would see in Troi.

That one's easy in my opinion: attempting to correct his mistakes with Alexander. Alexander bonded well with Troi, and she became something of a mother figure to him at times. Plus she is lovely and caring, so he might've given it a try for that reason.

Ultimately I think they weren't a very compatible match, and I think coming to realize that let them break up easily enough.

Well, how many times would she have to have her ribs broken... :wtf:

I'm pretty sure I remember one episode where O'Brien and Keiko sneak off from a party to get laid. In fact, now that I think about it, they were always making out (after the argument, obvs).
Yup. They were big with the make-up sex. That's probably why they made such an effort to fight all the time.

In other words, to quote Richard Pryor, 'If you've got to fuck, you've got to fight too!'

For some reason, the vibe I get from what people have been saying about Miles & Keiko's relationship sounds similar to that of Ralph & Alice Kramden from The Honeymooners; I can even see Miles/Ralph saying to Alice/Keiko 'One of these days, Keiko, one of these days...Bang-zoom to the wormhole!' and then after they make up, 'Baby, you're the greatest!' followed by a big smooch. I can even see Julian Bashir as Ed Norton, with Ezri Dax as Trixie.;):):guffaw::rofl:
