I like Janeway, but I also don't have a problem with her being dead in the novels either. Starship captains may seem immortal, but they really aren't and sometimes they do die tragically. Janeway's death was a major point of focus in "Full Circle" and her passing had major consequences for characters like Chakotay and Tuvok (whose reaction made me like him even more than I already did).

I think the chances of Janeway being resurrected will depend on whether or not she's referenced in any future Trek movie or TV show that places her past 2381 or whatever. In the meantime, I'm digging the both familiar and unfamiliar turns VOY has taken in the books of late.
all it would take is spock prime making such a reference in the next movie.
Assuming that Spock Prime will be in the next movie (or any future movies) and that he will need to refer to someone who hasn't been born yet...
:vulcan:
uh spock prime came from a period several years past where the recent books are..
Uh, changes nothing. There's still no guarantee Spock Prime will be in the next movie. And even if he is, there still has to be a need that he will refer to Janeway (and that's even assuming that he even knows a lot about her at all).
and it wouldnt even need nimoy..it could be a reference like elder spock said blah blah..
Which would be silly silly because it would be someone talking about what someone else said about someone a century from now in another timeline.

Not to mention that with all the changes (Vulcan being destroyed creates quite the ripple effect) that person from 100 years in the future of an alternate timeline may not ever even be born.

The only people from the TNG era who are guaranteed to exist would be, lets see...

Guinan, since she is already alive.

Sisko, since the Prophets will make sure he comes into existence.

Neelix, since he originates so far away the destruction of Vulcan will not effect the DQ.

Odo, for the same reasons.

Dax, since the symbioite is already alive. Jadzia and Ezri, not so much.

Everyone else is up in the air.

For the near future, however, there are no new Voyager books in the works.

Actually...there is now a new Voyager novel scheduled for 2011 which I am writing.

I wonder if it is because they know, deep down, that they are going to have to eat crow and bring back Janeway.

Not really, no. It just takes time to put together publishing schedules.

Well dear, I hope you can get permission to bring Janeway back. I have not purchased another Trek book since they killed her. I won't until they bring her back.
