Kate Mulgrew - Orange is the New black

Emmy noms for 2017 will be for season 4=last year's performance.

I think one of the problems Oitnb has is this year's Emmy voters forget last season's performance once the new season comes out.

Frankly I enjoyed last season's performance of many of our Oitnb characters and that's Oitnb's other problem. So many actresses do such a good job they split the Oitnb vote between themselves when the noms are being considered in the first place.

What are your pronostic? S4 was considered by fans as the best one with the S1 so, the show should get several nominations ... We can already quote Uzo Aduba ... like the last 3 years! Mulgrew could get a nomination too... though I rather expect one for the next year and S5.

I predict no one in Oitnb gets nominated.
 
My favorite Nazi joke was when she complained the Little Mermaid shouldn't marry outside her race.


S4 is considered the best? I would rank seasons 2, 5, 1, 4, 3. 3 being by far the worst. But no individual actress stands out much this season. That is what made it great, they juggled 30 narratives at once.
 
I smiled when I realized Sankey and Alison had the same problems at home. They invited another woman into the family to "take care of the poor suffering spouse", then got upset when the spouse enjoyed the relationship she originally sanctioned, "too" much.

I still wonder what Alison did to land in jail. I trust it wasn't polygamy. :whistle:

I assume Sankey's crime was drug related. :sigh:
 
Believe she said "White Nationalist". I think the distinction is that being a Nazi is a more specific subcategory of white supremacy than being a white nationalist.

I wonder which characters they're going to focus on next season. It would be much harder to focus on everybody like they did S5 because most of the characters will be separated from each other. I wonder if at least at the start there's going to be a shift back to Piper being the main character.

The character of Piper Chapman was progressively relegated to the background, even became inexistant as the seasons passed. From the status of heroin of the show, she became one of numerous protagonists, from s2. Let's hope that s6 gets back her in the saddle!
 
I thought Chapman went off the rails in S3 with the underwear thing. They brought her back after the swastika branding incident. But in S1/S2 she was like an avatar for the privileged white portion of the audience. In S5 she's turned into more a wish fulfillment avatar. Acting on her emotional instinct, getting involved in everything that the audience would be too rationally afraid to get involved in.
 
I liked Piper's epiphany in season 5 when she admitted she'd been trying to "win prison".

I lot of people have gone off the rails in the last 2 seasons, but by the end of season 5 most of them seem to be getting back on track.

What I find interesting is how people have suggested Maria better watch her back around Gloria, since Maria betrayed her by stealing her idea to free the hostages.

Of course, no one stops to think that Gloria was betraying all the women in the prison trying to negotiate for a better deal. I think Gloria is at more risk for reprisals than Maria is at risk for revenge from Gloria.

And speaking of reprisals, Piscatella may have never filed the charges against Maria to add time to her sentence, but her own activities in torturing the prisoners likely will do exactly that even though she ultimately released them.

I wonder if we will be revisited by Alex's drug kingpin/nemesis next season. He can't remain clueless for long, especially since she was in the streaming video of a prisoner being abused.

Speaking of which, how did Gina get that video in the first place since I think it was the girls screaming that alerted her to go upstairs.

A release date has finally been announced for season 6!!!!

July 27th is the latest premiere for the show,,, and I wonder if we have Laura Prepon's pregnancy last year to thank for this delay (shooting wrapped much later this winter than has been their practice)

There's not much in the teaser EXCEPT for a certain "guest star" we haven't seen since season 1! (Look in the window. ;) )

Yeah, read it on Kate's FB fan page. Pushing it a month later! But I suppose I'll be too busy packing to binge watch so, my favor? :) I'm not sure I want to watch it. I sort of miss the season 1-2 vibe but I don't suppose that series would have lasted long.
 
Its already lasted 2 years longer than "Enterprise".

I'm going to stay positive until I see season 6 for myself. Evidently all but 2 writers have been replaced,
 
Except from stellar acting from Mulgrew (Red), Brooks (Tasha Jefferson) & Henke (Piscatella) in last episodes, this 5th was rather messy and violent for me. At the same time, shows and features taking place inside the prison environment were never my thing so maybe my opinion is biaised... .
Anyway, I hope they will resume the quality present in s1 and 2 even if it is common to see a series and/or saga running for so long, ‎loses its freshness. Let's hope the s7's finale ‎will live up to our expectations!

About Mulgrew, OITNB will be her 2nd ‎longer professional TV commitment after ST: Voyager, with its 7 seasons but contrary to the latter, Red's character isn't THE star of the show but one of dozens.

No, no, I'm not saying it was a doomed show. I'm just saying I'm not sure if it would have last, if I had it my way. I didn't like season 3 and 4 and 5 so much. But then again I didn't like piper being lead. LOL I don't know what I want!!!!

On a seperate note,
I have to find the article to back my question because my memory is hazy. Don't they have to leave this particular set because it's being reopened in real life?
