Kate Mulgrew - Orange is the New black

Hello folks,

For Kate Mulgrew's fans, I thought that it would interest you.

Mrs Colombo (in french) thanks to a friend of mine, tchikou el meryoul, who put some episodes on line.

Enjoy, :)

Well, it looks like Samira got over the untimely demise of her character last season... :wah:

... by getting married last month.

Danielle Brooks sent the happy couple a wedding card wishing them the absence of their "monthly visitor" for the festivities. :alienblush:

Laura Prepon not only got engaged this past fall ... :luvlove:

Speaking of season 5 of Orange is the New Black... :cardie:  :cardie:

Season 5 is just 3 days long.

The premiere is June 9th! :techman:

Not that it is useful, to such good law abiding citizens, but episodes 501 through 510 have been leaked on line. I'm sure that no one would ever post spoilers about these premature, mysterious and illegal stories, unless some of you want an orange jump suit?

I thought the hacker was holding them "ransom", that they would only post them online if Netflix didn't pay up. Either I heard wrong, or Netflix said "stuff it!"

I thought the hacker was holding them "ransom", that they would only post them online if Netflix didn't pay up. Either I heard wrong, or Netflix said "stuff it!"

Well, it seems , according to Variety (I didn't go an see if it was true, I want to calirify it immediately!) that some episodes are already online on Pirates Bay.
If the rumor was verified, the journalist wondered if Netflix was going forward the release date of the season 5, already scheduled in June 9th... .

If they advance the release date too much, then they set up season 4 against season 5 at the Emmys. If they wait until the first possible second to run season 5 for the next Emmy season it probably won't help them since viewers who won't wait will run off anyway to see the pirated versions.

I suspect that it's less a problem for Netflix than for broadcast TV since they rely on the revenue from commercials and not the revenue from subscribers.

As for me, I will wait for June 9th so Netflix can count me as a viewer when they decide whether or not to fund other seasons.

So, we've had musical Xena and Buffy Eps in the 1990's and musical Flash and Once Upon a Time Eps in the 2017's... let's hope OitNB doesn't try to follow suit.

ETA: If you've already watched the hacked season, here's something else you can do on June 9th to get your Laura Prepon fix. (I have loved Sam Elliot ever since the summer replacement series "The Yellow Rose" )

Season 5 reviews

First, the pros...

I love this quote.

Frieda (Dale Soules) comes to the fore as a survivalist with some useful tricks in a riot situation while Red (Mulgrew) continues to steal any scene not nailed down.

And the cons... no pun intended.

GQ, however, didn't like it.

A second Emmy nomination in the air for Kate Mulgrew in 5 seasons? I hope but I'm almost sure that we will see Uzo Aduba being AGAIN be nominated for her performance. Don't get me wrong, Uzo is a talented actress but, I wonder if she is not "overvalued" compared to other actresses...

If Indiewire is to be believed then there will be another actress being nominated for this season (which means next year, this { 2017} year belongs to season 4)

Lea weighs in on season 5...

https://www.popsugar.com/entertainment/Lea-DeLaria-Interview-About-Orange-New-Black-2017-43527474

... and here's my favorite exchange.

PS: I actually spoke to Kate Mulgrew last week, and she was saying that we're going to be "gobsmacked" by the story. How do you see audiences reacting to the new episodes?
LD:
First of all, as a perfect gentleman, I would never disagree with a lady in public. As a budding actor — even though I'm 58 years old, I still feel like I'm a budding actor — I would never argue with Kate Mulgrew on anything. She's a goddamn God, OK? And I do happen to be in total agreement with her. You will be gobsmacked by it, and audiences are going to lose their minds.

And speaking of that Russian...

https://www.popsugar.com/entertainment/Kate-Mulgrew-Interview-About-Orange-New-Black-2017-43507424

... here's a lovely thought.

"It's a pretty big season for me," she said. "At least, that's how I felt when I staggered home at the end of it."

Oh my, oh my, oh my.

Whatever happens to Red, it's BIG. "Audiences are going to be gobsmacked, mouths agape at what happens to all of us in this season, but in particular probably what happens to Red. It's no holds barred. There's very little I did not experience, endure, and overcome . . . Red is an extraordinary creature, but she is a woman of many flaws, which are evident in a way that we have never seen before. Her humanity is threatened in a way we have never seen before. Something bigger than she could even have thought of — and she thinks at a pretty high level — has come to darken her life."

It drives me crazy when the reviewers screw up such basic facts like who's Daya's mother.

I have watched last season again this week, which was a good thing since I forgot a lot of stuff. That gave me an opportunity to revisit that "bada$$ biker chick with an octopus neck tattoo" and if you don't know I'm talking about, click on this next link.

Enjoy, :)

Thanks for the info Ghislaine. Kate did a fine acting job once more, but I wouldn't bother watching it again. Mind you I don't want my hour and a half back. But it did have a very frustrating part to it where that police officer put Kate's life at risk by informing the co-murderer about her. We had a case like that over here some years back. I don't think it involved an officer from memory but rather a social worker whose callousness/carelessness basically lead to the dad or step dad murdering a girl or couple of sisters and I don't think the social worker was held accountable. I would have thought say 5 years in prison might help impress upon that person the requirement to be careful enough with other people's lives.

You're welcome, Wildflowers! :-D

I admit to have liked some episodes more than others on the 13 proposed.

s1:
- Caviar with Everything
- Off the Record

s2:
- A Chilling Surprise
- Falling Star

(I liked several things for this s2 : the chemistry between Kate Callhan ex-Colombo & Det. Mike Varrick + the musical generic ... and to see Kate behind the bars for several hours, 34 years before OITNB! ;-) By cons, the french female voice was ‎inadequate relative to character.
