Kate Mulgrew - Orange is the New black

Seconded on should having thought about the implications of Piscatella's death.

I'm about to finish the sixth season. I have to ask...is there an A block???

I know I don't normally post in this Forum but Orange Is the New Black is awesome and I have to talk about it somewhere among people who've seen the show. Carol is my favorite new character, Alex is my favorite character overall, and Red had a stand-out season. We see some of Kate Mulgrew's best acting here.

I just finished the new season. It was more "normal" than Seasons 4 and 5. A little different than the first three seasons but, under the circumstances, how couldn't it be with them going to max? Two surprises in the finale and one that wasn't. All I'll say without going into spoilers.

I'm trying to decide if sleep deprivation will be worth it at midnight to get one episode in before bed. otherwise I have to wait until 10pm tomorrow. :P

Normally whenever a new season comes on, I just binge it all the way through. Sleep-deprivation and anything else be damned.

Unfortunately, this year, I had other things going on Friday and so could only get through the first 11, even though I went to bed at 4:00 AM. Then watched the last two today.

I assume the other half of the prisoners went to the same max facility Piper and Nichols earlier went to? Do we ever see them at all this season?

We mostly only see the prisoners who went to the same prison as Piper and Nichols. So, unfortunately, we as an audience end up leaving some of the characters behind.

We very briefly see Big Boo in the other prison but it's really more like a cameo.

Are you talking about the place they were at few seasons ago? That was in Chicago. However, it was mentioned and made clear the other group were sent to a facility in Ohio following the riot.

I have to take a look and see if the Chicago facility turns out to be the same set as the Litchfield Max for season six...

Edit: I just look. It's not the same.

Right, forgot Piper's max stay was in Chicago. But, the one Nichols went to in seasons 3 and 4, where British girl and Claudette are, is that yet another completely different maximum security prison?

No, its supposed to be the same Max. "Daddy" recognized Nicky from her last stay and told Piper that she heard all about her from the "Australian" (Stella). Also, the min security prison "up the hill" is discussed frequently by the other guards not to mention Warden Fig and Vice Prez Linda (formerly from purchasing and Big Boo's season 5 love interest.) Also, the "Max" inmates recognized Piscatalla's name.

What has confused me this season was they kept referring to Joe as last year's warden for BOTH the Max and Min campuses which I don't believe was ever suggested in previous years.

I'm six episodes in, so just in last session saw them recognize Nichols. And of course the reference to the British girl Piper sent there who apparently got out.

Where's Claudette then, does she ever show or get referenced?

Also this might be first time in a while they've dated the amount of time that has passed. If Piper has 9 months left after having 6 added, that means she was 13 months into her sentence.

Pacing myself. :)

I'm interested in Claudette's fate, is she dead or did she get transferred to another prison?

As I'm watching this show I wish there was a good way to look up which things that happen are based on something real and which are just writing. Like, the fantasy league. Are there prison guards who really do this?!

Somehow I get a feeling this happens. My god-sister works at a women's prison, actually (and was in the army before that). I could ask her, but she doesn't like to talk about work that much. I let her bring it up. Not the other way around. But, from what she's mentioned before, it wouldn't surprise me one bit. And some of the guards on the show sound exactly like what she describes. Don't even get her started about assholes or "guys with shaved heads".

I really wanted to know too about her fate. I really enjoyed that character.

And ditto on question 2.
