Karl Urban -- blond or brunet?

Hey did anyone else notice in the DVD commentary track that J.J. and the other guys mistakenly called Karl a "Kentucky doctor"? It's been all but official on-screen canon for close to 40 years now that McCoy is from Georgia. Just thought I'd mention that.

I guess we should just be glad McCoy isn't from West Virginia. 'Cause then he'd have trouble figuring out how an elastic bandage works. Or a turbolift.

yeah, but then again he'd be able to drive his tractor at 90mph through the boondocks.

Several members from WV (including SheliakBob) would probably disagree, on general principle.

^ No, I'm not (though I've probably got family there, as I do in Ohio and PA.) I just don't think it's necessary or helpful to trash a state which has produced several perfectly articulate and intelligent posters, some of whom participate in this forum. That sort of thing is more the province of TNZ.

M', no fun :p

Ed... maybe its because this McCoy mentions the Kentucky Derby in his rant to Spock...

Oh... and isn't McCoy fond of mint juleps? [which is the official drink of the Kentucky Derby]

Hi everybody,
I bring the new news of Karl, seems would work a called film " Red" with a great list of actors very met I leave links of the news. I believe that the new film, it can be looked like Bourne Supremacy, or at least this in that line. Besides the sequel of Star Trek 12, soon we will see him like vampire in " Priest" and now like agent in " Red"

Karl Urban Joins Red, McMahon is VP
Comic Book Movie News, Red (2010) Movie — By Nix on December 24, 2009

Mania reports that the busy Karl Urban (currently trying to take a bite out of Paul Bettany as the heavy in another comic book adaptation, “Priest”) has just added to his schedule by joining the cast of Bruce Willis’ comic book movie “Red”. Urban will play a character name Cooper. Meanwhile, Mania confirms that Julian McMahon will indeed be playing the Vice President of the United States. Likely, McMahon’s character is the weasel that begins the cycle of violence when he orders the hit on Bruce Willis’ character, Paul Moses, a former CIA black ops killer who has since retired.

Robert Schwentke is directing the film, based on the comic book by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner. The cast is quite formidable, including Willis, Urban, McMahon, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker, John C. Reilly, Brian Cox, Ernest Borgnine and Richard Dreyfuss. Yes, all these people signed up for a movie based on a 3-issue comic book. Go figure.

Shooting begins in January of next year over in Toronto ways.

Red is scheduled to release on the 22nd of October 2010.

Karl Urban to Join Red
Red by Warren Ellis

The impressive cast of Red is growing. Mania reports that Karl Urban is the latest actor to join the cast, in the mysterious role of "Cooper." All other details of the character are unknown.

Urban joins the likes of Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John C. Reilly, and Mary-Louise Parker in a story about a retired CIA agent (Willis) targeted by a mysterious assassin. The story also confirms an earlier report that Julian McMahon will play the Vice-President of the United States and that Richard Dreyfuss and Ernest Borgnine are officially in the cast.

Sorry for my English :shrug::biggrin:

West Virginia has "general principle?"

:wtf:

Unless you can give me six degrees of separation between Karl and West Virginia, I think this is a wee bit off-topic :p

Now, back to the important stuff - Karl's going to be in a Bruce Willis action movie which also has Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker, John C. Reilly, Brian Cox, Ernest Borgnine and Richard Dreyfuss in it

Where does the queue for tickets start?

John C. Reilly is another one of my favorite recent actors. He's been in a little of everything, kind of like Karl. He was an Oscar nominee in a big-budget musical like CHICAGO and has done things as little and hard to notice to a lot of people as "Dr. Steve Brule" on TIM & ERIC. With a little of everything sprinkled in-between.

John was awesome in both "Boogie Nights" and "Magnolia". (I am a HUGE fan of Paul Thomas Anderson.) I also loved him in "The Hours".

But back on topic, I was looking through some of the movie merchandise I ended up with and I am a little annoyed to find that McCoy was under-represented. He should have had his own Burger King glass dammit. (I love the four they did though. Very nicely done.) He should have also been one of the six inch action figures that was in his regular medical uniform rather than the cadet. :( I want more Karl merchandise CBS! Is anyone listening?!

Karl didn't get BOTH sizes and scales of dolls and action figures either...did he? I can only remember seeing the one action figure of McCoy in stores and I can't recall if they made two or more differently-scaled toys out of Karl or not.

^ He was done in all three sizes. But the two smaller ones were of him in the cadet uniform. I want him in the blue uniform like the 12" doll.

(I had to rewrite that last sentence four times before I came up with something that didn't sound perverted.)

Chris Pine's appreciation thread is still page one - we mustn't slide to page 2 - a quick infusion of photos will likely remedy that. Any donors?
