Karl Urban -- blond or brunet?

^
I agree.

Karl seems to be the least out-of-his-element and bewildered about his role in the movie, how well the film did and the franchise in-general. As much as I groove to John Cho, Quinto and Pine I couldn't see any of them bragging and glowing about their action figures.

MAN! He loved his action figure. He totally wanted to marry it

To get us (a little) back on track, have a photy of our Karl

Don't know where it's from, I was doing a search of pictures from Priest - alas, none yet. Although one of the horror film sites (forget which) was promising an on-set report in a week or two. As soon as I get it, you'll get it :techman:

Thank you for looking out for us, trampledamage! I am just chomping at the bit (heh) to see him as Black Hat, and it drives me crazy that we haven't seen anything yet. If the way he looked at the Scream Awards is any indication, I can't wait to get a peek.

Sorry, I should have put in a link; he looks great there, too, but I was thinking of the Scream Awards on Spike TV a few weeks ago. I believe he was filming Priest at the time, so I'm hoping this is similar to the look we'll get for Black Hat.

Karl Urban Online has more photos from the event at the Galleries link; Gallery 14 to be exact. I can't link directly to the gallery for some reason. I'm trying to figure out if the small blonde woman dressed in white in the last photo is his wife, Natalie. Can't quite tell, but this woman resembles photos I've seen of her before.

Totally!

As loose as Pine, Quinto and even PEGG get at times I couldn't see any of them publicly loving all over an action figure of their likeness like that! Pegg came close during a U.S. publicity tour for HOT FUZZ and was filmed licking and playing immaturely with a MacFarlane-quality doll/figure of his character from SHAUN OF THE DEAD, but even then he didn't seem too into the playfulness.:p

I'm sure his experience with the LOTR and Riddick film franchises and the Xena TV show toughened him up, so to speak, for the craziness that is Star Trek (said with affection and full acknowledgment that I'm one of them, but really, there's no denying we Trek fans are a nutty--but nice--bunch ). I believe he's the only cast member that has prior experience with a major SF film franchise, isn't he?

Plus he just seems like a very laid-back guy by nature--at least, that's how he comes across to me in all his interviews. He has the intensity of an artist, yes, but he appears to be grateful for his good fortune and very humble.

Of course, for all I know he could be such a good actor that he goes home and kicks the cat, throws dinner across the room if it's a minute late, and cheats on his wife, but I seriously doubt that. He wouldn't have so many friends and fellow actors saying so many good things about him if he was like that.

I would venture to say Karl Urban is a decent guy with his head screwed on straight.

And FYI, I plan to be the first person in line when they perfect cloning and the Karl clone becomes available on the market. They'd make a mint off him, wouldn't they? Just from the people in this thread alone:

"Let's see...a Karl for me, a Karl for trampledamage, a Karl for Crusher Disciple, one for AstroSmurf, one each for Jeri and Randi*, one for cooleddie, and one each for all my other Karl Urban thread buddies!"

*Although these two ladies may too busy with their Chris Pine clones to require a Karl clone.

I've been a captain's woman* for many years, but I do appreciate Karl. :D Thank you!

I've read and seen other clips of this interview, but not the full interview and not from this angle. Although I still maintain he appears a little tired and thin here, he looks so incredibly handsome (more suit porn, trampledamage!). He's also very charming, polite, and patient with questions he's no doubt been asked hundreds of times.

<Mrs_Whatsit waits patiently for Karl clone to be invented> :sigh:

And I don't know what it is about the boys from "down under". They just blow my little mind with their polite gentle nature and rugged good looks. Right now I have three that I am following from afar: Karl, of course, Sam Worthington and Cooper Cronk. I think I need to pack my junk and move! I am not having much luck here in the US so why not. :bolian:

Oh, Sam Worthington! He was incredible in that last Terminator movie; the first (and so far only) time I've seen him. I went to see the movie halfheartedly, because my husband wanted to see it so much. I figured that at least I wouldn't mind watching Christian Bale, who I like a lot. Well, I barely noticed Christian. Sam Worthington had so much heart and so much humanity as Marcus--he absolutely, positively made the movie for me. I don't know who Cooper Cronk is, but you obviously have excellent taste, AstroSmurf!

I also have a thing for guys from New Zealand and Australia. My Trifecta of Down Under Hotness (aka "Guys I'd dump my wonderful, adorable husband for in a heartbeat") is Sam Neill, Hugh Jackman, and now Karl Urban (who immediately vaulted over Sam and Hugh to take first position).

Mrs Whatsit : You have one of those lists too?

Oh, yes, I have several. There's a UK version (and you and I most likely share at least one of those--a certain Scotsman), a childhood crushes version, etc. Mr_Whatsit is used to all my boyfriends. Although I think he originally figured I'd grow out of them. Fooled him--I'm still not grown up and I probably never will be! :)

What movies does Karl star in so far? (I have the "milk" one.) And hows it looking for him to be starring in the future?

He hasn't been the main star in very much - Pathfinder I think is the only other movie. The next big movie he's in is Priest where he's playing the main bad guy, which is out next year. There's also Black Water Transit which I'm very intrigued by from the IMDb but know nothing else about.

td, thanks; I will check out Pathfinder. I saw that interview where they asked him about Priest.
