I'll get the DVD out this evening and work out which chapters are his main scenes, because most of Karl's stuff is later in the movie.

One of the things I love about the creation of Scruffy is how he looks so much older there than when he's scrubbed up fresh as a cadet.

If you just saw the screenshots, you'd think Scruffy was from the end of the movie, or the cadet stuff was a flashback.

Before I saw the movie, I hadn't seen any spoilers or didn't know anything about Karl. So when he came into the shuttle, I had no idea who he was.

But I can't tell you how much fun it was to have it slowly dawn on me through his conversation after he sat down just who that character would turn out to be.

It was a pure pleasure moment! By the time he said his name, my little Trek face and heart was already lit with a big smile and glow.

But I can't tell you how much fun it was to have it slowly dawn on me through his conversation after he sat down just who that character would turn out to be.

It was a pure pleasure moment! By the time he said his name, my little Trek face and heart was already lit with a big smile and glow.

I thought he was amazing. AMAZING. As he said those lines the smile on my face went from ear to ear. I saw somewhere on the internet that someone commented on his "imitation" of McCoy. I don't think he was doing an imitation at all. I think he KNEW that character through and through. His performance for me, was perfect AND the most surprising.
I cannot say enough about him.

Look at his eyes - they're always distracting for me
