Justin Roiland looking at 7 years in prison for domestic violence.

I love that they're going all in with the voice change, instead of just getting an imitator and pretending there was no change.

the smart move is to go a whole different direction, either by embracing the change with some wacky sci-fi nonsense, or just remove the characters altogether.

Granted I was talking about 'Rick & Morty', but still . . . called it! ;)
Of course now that 'Solar Opposites' got there first, 'Rick & Morty' are either going to have to do something different, or double down on the meta and do *exactly* the same thing . . . or, you know; 'Beth, Summer & Space Beth' spinoff (and I guess Jerry can come too.)

Would be funny if they cast the exact same actor as Rick's new voice.
Stevens as a British Korvo works great. Stevens as a British Rick not so much. Despite a few superficial similarities (and, until recently, the same voice actor) they're pretty different characters.

That being said, wonder what Christopher Lloyd's doing these days. ;)

I'm a little disappointed, I was hoping they'd do something more with the change in voice actors. Now that I know that Solar Opposites did go that route, I have to wonder if maybe they were afraid they'd be accused of copying it/repeating themselves.

Personally, I'm still angry about Seth Green replacing Jason Biggs on TMNT, so I'm team soundalike on this one. :)

I thought there might be actual evidence there. Nothing but "Hey, what if..." :D

While I don't believe they will use AI as it'd be way too controversial, and the last thing this show needs at the moment is more controversy. I will say it does seem kind of odd, the new season premieres next month and they still haven't announced Roiland's replacement.

Perhaps they are going to bring back Roiland but don't want to deal with the drama until it us closer to the season premiere. Or I guess that logic would also be the case with a new replacement as well. Well that and their is a strike so I don't think they could if they wanted to.

If the replacement is a non-celeb, I don't think there's much to gain by promoting it. Make people watch the first ep so they can decide if the voice is good before reading the name and going, "Who?"

Maybe they just want to keep low on the controversy and the likely complaining with recast voices. A lot of people won't even be aware of what's going on outside of the show. I have a friend who watches it but knows nothing about what happened. I decided not to say anything and see if they notice any difference with the voices.

I wondered if he had already recorded his lines since they would have been working on the animation way in advance before he was let go.

Good point. They may not yet have announced his replacement because there is some or all of this particular season where he's still the star.

Definitely new voices for Rick and Morty (or maybe one new voice actor for both, I don't know) in that trailer, and they sound pretty good. Rick is a little more raspy, and Morty doesn't quite match, but they're more then good enough and I'm sure time/experience will make them even better.
