Justice League official "Zack Snyder" cut on HBO Max

Just finished. I really enjoyed this, and wish we'd gotten it in 2017. Shame we won't get the sequels. Ray Fisher was great, his story was so much deeper than the Whedon version where he was just along for the ride. In fact everyone got a chance to really shine.

You could really tell the epilogue at the very end is new content, Ben Affleck's face is significantly leaner than in the movie proper. Combine the apocalyptic flashforward with the dreams in BvS and Cyborg's vision earlier in JL and you get pretty much the whole story (recently released in those storyboards) of Lois dying at the hands of Darkseid, Clark succumbing to the anti-life equation/just giving the fuck up and becoming the new Steppenwolf, Aquaman being dead, the surviving goodies and baddies all teaming up for one last ditch effort to time travel this thing into nonexistence and Lois dying being something Batman could/should have suffered instead.

So unsurprisingly, this was better than the theatrical cut in most ways. I can't say I was a fan of how often it dipped into being a meandering pretentious slog, but considering I am no fan of the Snyderverse this was overall a win in my book. I didn't actively hate the character decisions made and I genuinely enjoyed big chunks of it.

Oh yeah, the music! Did it use the original soundtrack, or the rush/butcher job by Elfman?
Neither. There was no "original soundtrack" at the stage it was retooled. The score is new music composed by Tom Holkenborg, who was set to be the original composer.

..but...but they must watch it, so they can clog social media like a neglected gas station toilet. It would be so easy for some to exercise self control (over their obsessive hatred of Snyder, his films and fans) and you know...not watch it, but there's that lack of self control thing again...
Says the guy who's brought us the weekly Supergirl hate watch for the last five years ....

It's really not so hard to understand why those of us not predisposed to like Snyder's movies would still want to watch this. It's a major event in the genre and the fandom, and is going to be the subject of much discussion. Can't participate in that dialogue knowledgeably without seeing it. Your discomfort with hearing any dissenting views about Snyder's films is not a reason for anyone to abstain from watching it, or expressing their opinions about it.

Wanting people to enjoy what they watch is more my view. It's not like Snyder is an unknown player in the DC world. He is controversial, has his own view on the heroes and filmmaking. So, why partake? To discuss it? :wtf:

No, it is quite difficult to understand.

Just finished it. I really enjoyed it but I’m not a fan of Superman going evil because Lois died. To me that doesn’t fit his character. I hope that it’s the anti-life equation that’s got him.
I like the new WW music. It’s very Xena like. Her action scenes were also more brutal than in the other cut.
The Joker scene was good. I thought that was done very well. It’s good to know Harley died. I can’t stand her.
The Flash was better done here as well. I especially like the scene where he is dodging the parademon’s attack. I’m curious if that fight them with the “power of love” line was a dig at the Flash TV show.

Is there anyway we can get Snyder to do WW 3? His take on the character is so much better than Jenkins.

So what are the chances of ever seeing this thing in actual IMAX?
For now we get this:

Injustice was an interesting alternate reality take and storyline which i followed for a while and maybe part of the inspiration for the Knightmare scenes ( have yet to completely watch the Snyder Cut) - it is an interesting What If when it comes to Superman's self control and exactly what compelled Batman/Wayne to act in BvS. I seem to recall this was apparently the full plan for JL sequels to have them at least play out the Knightmare/Injustice storyline and use time travelling to fix the issue ( kind of like the MCU using timetravel to fix things in Endgame).

It's hard to understand why I would want to be able knowledgeably to discuss a major production involving characters in whom I'm hugely invested? :wtf:, back atcha.

I have seen literally every live-action Superman-related movie, serial, and TV episode ever released. The idea that I would fail to watch Zack Snyder's Justice League just because I have largely disliked his previous entries in the canon is frankly bizarre.

Besides which, it isn't as if I will watch hoping to hate it. Believe me, I'm far happier loving Superman stuff than not. And I won't know unless I see it, right?

Didn’t like Injustice because of that. I prefer DC Universe Online’s take of Superman’s reaction to her death.

Whelp...I'm at a loss. If I don't like a person's work I don't feel the need to try them again. I guess the saying is true; "Hope springth eternal."

I'm invested in the character of Obi-Wan but I did a hard pass on the Clone Wars.

Agree to disagree, and onward and so on.

Don't get my hopes up. Injustice is hands down one of my favorite series involving Superman and Batman, aside from Adam West.

Honestly always thought the reasoning behind Injustice was kind of lazy. It works as an alternate take just like Ultraman does, but not the "real" Superman. I much preferred the Kingdom Come version.

Hbo max has confirmed that they will not be getting the restored bvs at the moment. Completely misleading marketing!

Something I just remembered...when "Martha" comes to visit Lois she says, "When I saw Mr. Perry, he told me that you hadn't been to work since Clark died?"

He's Mr. White. Perry is his first name. What the heck happened there? Normally I'd assume maybe it's some weird thing where J'onn mixed it up, but Lois doesn't so much as flinch at the oddity.

Hahahaha I never realized that "Martha" was Jonn, I thought he was just listening to Lois and Martha outside the apartment! I must have glanced away when he shape changed.
