Justice League official "Zack Snyder" cut on HBO Max

Ignoring the fact the film's prologue established the zombie outbreak occurring in an American city with no references to other lands [...] There is not one moment or suggestion that Muslims were behind or connected to the zombie outbreak
You're both making valid points. Yes, the movie gives no explicit suggestion that Muslims or mosques played any role in originating the outbreak - but also yes, that one shot of Islamic prayer at the beginning of the credits sequence, followed immediately by zombie imagery without shots of other forms of crowds, is an anti-Islamic dog whistle moment.

If the Snyder cut is received well enough, I can see them considering that version the "canon" one. Nobody went to see the theatrical version anyway.

One reason I don't like this situation: all the fanboys are taking the opportunity to shit on the hard work of Whedon and Elfman. I enjoyed the theatrical release (Great? No. Perfect? No. Enjoyable? Yes).

I don't begrudge this helping the Snyders' healing and getting to see their vision come to fruition. I just don't want to see a divided fandom - well, anymore than already exists.

People hated the theatrical movie. Some liked it obviously, myself included but general consensus based on rotten tomatoes and the IMDb rating is that the movie was disliked. There is no reason for Snyder not to get a crack at it.

Great heavens, no. Without well-defined and likable characters, Whedon's quip-heavy dialogue veers from merely sounding wildly out-of-place to make everyone seem like sociopaths. Likewise, without Snyder's grim and ultra-serious perspective and tone, the characters and stories we do get range from deadly boring (everything Cyborg) to distractingly preposterous and sitcom-like (Bruce, Flash, and Aquaman). Only Diana retains her dignity, though the camera is appallingly fixated on her posterior.

In short: it's a truly inept flick, lacking even the inspired crappiness of Batman and Robin.

I'm probably one of the few die-hard Superman fans this morning who feels like this over the news that he's wearing black - :(. I fear that the final confrontation will be with him wearing the black suit and at best we get a cameo of him at the end with the '(almost) proper' costume*. Admittedly I don't know what's going to happen, he way switch back to the red & blue way before the end, if he does then that's great. But I fear not.

* The 'proper' costume would feature the red trunks. Again I'm probably one of the few die-hard fans who prefers this look, just like I'm probably one of the few die-hard Batman fans who prefers the yellow oval on his chest.

Well, it's not actually a black suit from what I read, it's the color suit changed to black in post.

I feel ya but I'm waiting to see it all put together. I've only seen the movie once so I'm curious to check it out just as a pure experiment if nothing else. It's a rare opportunity to be able to see and contrast a major movie like this.

Same here, I’m not a fan on Snyder’s take on these characters (though I did quite enjoy all of his films and the cinematic JL) to some degree but I’m happy that we’ll get to see his completed vision, for better or worse. I’m also hoping for a miniseries take on it, as I would find that much more digestible.

Same reason I watched both versions of the Exorcist prequel. Refilming an entire movie was just too curiosity-piquing not to.

Since I first posted my reaction, I've seen the full interview and from my interpretation of what Zack Snyder said it does appear that he'll be in black for the whole of his time on the film :wah:.

It does feel like going in a bit overboard when the chance to redo things presents itself.

I have to admit to being curious, even with zero confidence in Snyder. Snyder made some promises regarding Superman and I am curious if he can deliver.

So I never bothered to watch the theatrical cut of Justice League. I do plan to watch the Snyder cut. It's a bit like Blade Runner in that way (I've only ever seen the Final Cut).
