Just watched all 12 episodes of "Homeland"

So, today classes were cancelled due to influenza, so I found myself with an entire day at home. I watched of season one of Homeland..... pretty intense, almost like a slow and dramatic "24." Anybody else seen this?

That and Dexter (barely now) are the only two reasons I'd plunk down 10 bucks a month for Showtime when fresh eppies air.

Homeland did have some rolleye moments, but very few and far between. It'll be interesting to see if that storyline can be maintained without getting too convoluted or characters just being tacked on...

Looks like the Lizard Queen landed on her feet.

I watched first episode the other night by accident, and I have to say it was a bit 'rolleyes'. It seemed quite overdone and over the top, and somehow I just couldn't buy the OTT-ness like I do with 24. I think I'll give it another go though for fairness.

The show definitely has some strong 24 vibe, but it's expected since the creators are from 24. I loved it, the actors are great, especially Damian Lewis and Claire Danes, the plot was interesting and the last episode was one of the best I've seen on any show.

I wonder where they will go in the second season, considering the ending of the first.

Probably my favorite show from last year. I really enjoyed most of it aside from the goofy (at times) relationship between Brody and Carrie. I just wondering how long it will be before Mandy Patinkin quits.

^Yeah, I've been wondering about Homeland and whether it was worth space on Netflix list. I love Mandy Patinkin, but I'm reluctant to get too interested in it, because it probably won't be long before he bails.

There were plenty of  moments because of just how unstable some of these characters are, and the obvious writer attempts to mislead the audience (which, honestly, 24 desensitized me to). Watching it all in one sitting was helpful... I think this show would have driven me crazy week to week-- but altogether on a mandatory day at home? Pretty fun to tear through.

Does Carrie remind anyone else of BSG's Kara Thrace? o_O -- actually, I would go so far as to say the character profiles and acting styles would be perfectly interchangeable in either role.

It's worth it for the acting performance of Mandy Patinkin alone. I absolutely love his character.

We'll see. I think their best bet is a significant time jump-- 24 style, and Carrie really can't be the lead on this anymore unless she goes rogue. Jump to where Brodie has now been in power for some time.

One problem the show has for me, is that I can't help but find Brodie's motivations still somewhat unbelievable. I understand his religious conversion, even his horror over the lies and atrocity by the Vice President and his team, but his leap to becoming an Al Qaeda operative is still a tough pill for me to swallow. I'll need more depth, more about his religious convictions and politics, what he seeks to accomplish and why. Exposing a corrupt administration is one thing... fighting for the enemy or strapping bombs to yourself is quite another.

He carried the show for me. As for it being my favorite show from last year, I would have to give that title to Boardwalk Empire.
