Just use a "Connie"!

The first episode is going to use costumes and set designs exactly like the Cage. Early in the episode they'll run into Q who is messing with the universe. After being transported to some Arthurian fantasy, they'll tell Q (disguised as Merlin) to knock it off and leave the universe alone. Q will disappear in a flash of light and suddenly the crew will be in the updated uniforms in an updated ship with updated special effects and none of them will notice.

That would be awesome and perfect. Just like they should have just shown Worf without ridges in the TOS Tribbles crossover. Just gives us a wink wink visual gag and proceed like usual.

You can't have two versions of the same ships both be canon at the same time. one is, and one isn't.

Well, you can. Canon is just the body of work. So all 275,000 versions of the Enterprise from "Parallels" are canon. The multi-verse makes it possible for two ships from the same period of time to be canon.

The Mirror Universe Enterprise is canon as well.

You can slap the trek label on the jj-films, but as far as I am concerned there is only 1 trek universe in canon and that it the TOS-Voy one. TOS and the 3 spin offs established the rules.

You can like or dislike whatever you wish, but canon is a different animal and not determined by fans.

Even "Fair Haven" and "Spirit Folk" are canon, and I despise them. ;)

What you are expressing is a classic case of the argument from authority fallacy. CBS/Paramount say its canon so therefore it is. I differ from that view entirely.

Which is nothing to do with anyone but you, so that's really nothing to do with our discussion of Star Trek.

Because the property is theirs. If they want to decanonize TOS tomorrow, that is their right and everyone making "Star Trek" would have to follow that decision. "Canon" isn't something that fans make decisions on, it just isn't.

Star Trek canon is basically anything seen in the shows or the films -- all the shows (including ENT) and all the films (including the Kelvin Timeline). That's not really something fans can cherry-pick and tell other fans, "No, you're wrong. THAT thing isn't canon because I don't think it should be" -- canon is or isn't. Except the Animated Series. Which, to my knowledge, is kind of up in the air. (I think it is.)

Fans can have "head canon", which is your preferred sense of what is and isn't canon, and you're the authority of your own head canon. But for the purposes of public discussion canon is a fixed concept.

Getting Peter Weller back for an episode to play Admiral Marcus (over subspace, Section 31 subplot) would be pretty awesome.

No, not unless he portrays John Frederick Paxton, or a future relative of his. ;)
Could be both. I would watch that.

Appeal to authority is not always fallacious, unless the authority is not an expert in the field. In this case, CBS, being the owner of the property, is a proper authority to appeal to.

Otherwise, there would be no Axanar case ;)

Discovery will feature cameos from Enterprise actors, redo the look of the entire TOS era and the Enterprise, and it'll be every bit as official as both series.

Evidence please?

Until I see that outcome actually happen I will consider what you have said as speculation.
