Junk Food!

I think "junk food" is a very vague term that can be interpreted differently by individuals. When I think of the term, I think of most snack foods and desserts - chips, candy, cookies, pastries, donuts. etc. Food items that have no nutritional benefit at all whatsoever. Now, I have a sweet tooth, and so it can be a struggle to stay away from certain things. I won't keep sweets in the house. I do buy a couple of specific cookies and crackers to snack on at lunch time, but they are organic and contain relatively small amounts of sugar. I also stick to a serving size or two. I don't eat half the box.

If I really wanted to indulge myself, I'd probably get a hot fudge brownie sundae or a piece of red velvet cake.

... a big breakfast of fried eggs, bacon and corned-beef hash.

Ever venture to Doyle's of a Sunday morning (or afternoon)? That's my standard fare whenever I do. Belly up to the bar, tell Steve or Keith that I sent ya; they'll treat ya right. :p Hell, gimme a call and I'll meetcha there; it's only about a half mile from my house. Classic Boston! :bolian:

I'm hungry ....

Well, "Junk Food" is easier to put on a thread title instead of "Foods that I shouldn't have or don't normally eat for various reasons."

Pommes frites with sweet mango chutney.

Apple chips or Potato chips? Mango Chutney - oh ymmm! The best I ever had was Pineapple with horseradish. I thought it sounded awful but it was divine - I ended up eating it straight out of the jar!

You know, I really don't have any real vices. I don't smoke, don't drink, don't do drugs, don't beat my wife, don't cheat on her, don't gamble to excess, I hold a job. I figure I'm entitled to a little nice gluttony.
That said, I'm going to sit down and eat an entire box of Twinkies.

+1 :)

Sometimes when I go to the movie theatre (the kind which serves beer and food), I'll get wedge fries smothered in queso and ground beef. Oh. :)

I never have Nutella in the house because I claim it's not healthy for the kids, but the truth is that I'd eat the entire jar by the spoonful. :alienblush: Go me.

I don't think of Junk food as stuff I feel bad about eating, like Mcdonalds or something. Stuff I know is bad for me, and that I shouldn't eat. Junk food, to me, is something that is more rich or unhealthy than what I'd normally eat, but that I don't feel guilty about consuming. That said, my junk food meals include a nice General Tso's chicken meal, with fried rice, egg rolls, and an order of fried wontons from the local Chinese place, a Large Pizza from Little Caesar's (it's only $5...too good to pass up!), or a anything from Mighty Taco...usually a Super Mighty or 3 cheese Burrito. If we're talking desserts...give me a hot fudge brownie sundae. That will hit the spot.

I don't think I've ever been to Doyle's (although it sounds familiar), but have you ever gone to Mike's Diner or Victoria's on Mass Ave? Both are exemplary examples of greasy breakfast paradise.
