Good day. I'd like to put this forward as an entry even though I created it as its own piece. I always liked Operation Petticoat, with Cary Grant and Tony Curtis and though that a pink starship just seemed right.

"The USS Hawkes served in the Romulan Wars with some notoriety as she was caught in drydock during a heavy refit. With only the red under finish applied, she was forced to depart immediately. Exposure to the hard radiation and vacuum of open space, quickly transformed the finish to matt pink. With only her name applied to the primary hull, the Hawkes served with distinction through the conflict earning Captain Lang and her crew several citations and commendations.

Named after the Rev. Brent Hawkes, famous LGBT activist in Toronto.

I'm not sure how many people remember Soren from The Next Generation, but “The Outcast” has always been one of my all-time favorite Trek episodes. It may not be perfect, but for its time it was pretty daring, I'd say. So here's Soren in the colors of the transgender flag …

Amazing, really strong graphical style! Do you use a wacom tablet of some sort? I'm curious how you made it - is the face done by eye, or by layering over a photograph?

Either way, it's a lovely piece.

Sorry, I forgot to get back to you about this. I did this illustration in Procreate on an Apple iPad Pro. I just love doing stuff like this on it. And yeah, I started out by tracing an actual screengrab of Soren, but shifted to hashing out the details without the photo.
