Contest: ENTER June Art Contest: LGBTQ Month!

I hope I made myself clear.
Doesn't really look like I did. This escalated pretty quickly. I understand that the topic is a divisive one that brings out the more dubious and insular arguments with some people. As I said, though, this is not the place to indulge in this kind of conversation. This thread is simply for joining in the celebration of Pride Month and creating art to commemorate the occasion. (Still, I'm so glad to see that the vast majority of people here comes out on the defense of equality and justice for LGBTQ+ people. You guys rock!)

I removed @Handyman from the thread as it doesn't seem he has anything positive to add to the contest at hand. Should you feel the need to discuss this further, @Handyman, please contact me via PM.

Your regular art contest program continues … now. :techman:

1) LGBTQ will never be a "non-issue" dude and
2) "Prejudice" is not the basis of the disagreement and
3) There are a lot of us who find the promotion of it as offensive and obscene but of course, that point of view makes no difference.
Fancy that huh.
Screw off. The only reason the..."flaunting" of the LGBTQ would be an issue and/or a thing is because the group would be still marginalized one one way or other. It'd be nice to think that in the paradise that Earth is supposed to be by Picard's time that it wouldn't be a....thing.

I still think about that bookstore in DC's DuPont Circle that was popular in the 90s. It specialized in LGBTQ merchandise. I visited it several times during my undergrad days. It closed years ago, but while it had lot of neat stuff, it also did have a lot of tacky merchandise like huge matching rainbow apron and oven mitts that even some of my LGBTQ friends agreed. Unfortunately, it closed down over twelve years ago. DuPont Circle hasn't been the same in a long while.

I think @Michael hit it on the head - this has escalated really quickly. There are, sadly, a lot of entrenched opinions on this very divisive issue, and I think we all know where we stand now. I'm not sure what progress can be made with further argument. I hope this thread can return to a point where those who do wish to participate can share their work, and celebrate Pride Month with their art.

Here's my nice attempt

I like it!

Two small comments. Feel free to ignore.
  1. Having the two arrows at the top and the cross at the bottom perhaps anthropomorphizes it a bit much (I feel like I'm looking at the constellation of Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls :D). Maybe rotate it, or have the different "tails" going off all at 120 degrees from each other.
  2. If you did it with 4-pointed stars like on the UFP logo it would look even more Federation.

Thanks, everyone! :bolian:

Should have though of the finger issue, I'm just happy they're recognisable as hands.

Nice. Thanks for reminding me of an old college roommate who always had Powerpuff Girls on the TV. He sucked his thumb, froze in middle of humping his pillow when I showed my mom the room one afternoon...sigh. Weird kid.

Good suggestions. Thanks.
