Julian disgusted me as a person

Have you heard the good news?

It turns out, when you post a new topic on a public internet forum, it effectively becomes the entire group's!

i believe i can answer that. someone who really hated the Hippocratic oath episode.
And from his hate of that episode I can infer that he doesn't like avatars of people in fairly provocative monochrome poses. Just a wild guess. :shifty:

That sounds like socialism!

Perhaps, instead, you would share your comfort, Shran, your lack of pain...that ares93 may gain strength from the sharing.

Here, allow me to put this wayward thread back on track:

Julian never got in with Jadzia-Dax so he gets in with Ezri-Dax, her inferior successor, it really disgusts me that he could be such a creep.

I'm forced to wonder... are you disgusted by Julian or more by the fact that Jadzia died and Ezri came in?

Well..if it means anything, Worf accused Julian of the same thing, in "After Image". In fact he serously threatened Julian over it.

Worf says "I know how you felt about Jadzia"

And Julian says That was a long time ago".

Later, Worf tells Obrien, "This woman is not Jadzia, and treating her as if she were, dishonors her memory"

To be fair to Julian though, he tried to assure Worf there was nothing going on, although they were just friends.

if anyone, its worf You_Will_Fail should be aiming his hate at.

^Exactly.

It was WORF, not Julian, who saw Ezri as a substitute for Jadzia. Hence his line, "I thought I had lost her forever...but you and I will have many years together."

(Naturally, Ezri was a little creeped out at that....)

I'd say so. As ares93's pointed out, why is his anger all on Julian, and not Worf? For all intents and purposes, Worf treated Ezri far less like an individual than Julian did.

REGARDLESS of what Mike and Andy were trying to "establish" in Unjoined, Julian saw Ezri for who she was. It was WORF who just saw her as "Jadzia, the sequal". By this one's reasoning, it is therefore Worf who should be considered the "creep".

And...he says Ezri is Jadzia's "inferior successor"?

As Ezri would say, "Are you angry at me for something that I did [such as, say...finding happiness in the arms of Dr. Julian Bashir]...or because I'm not Jadzia?"

One thing I found interesting was that Worf really started the Jadzia 2.0 thing after he and Ezri slept together. Before it was "you are *not* Jadzia!" all the time and then magically when Worf gets the so called "sloppy seconds" it's "you and I will have many years together." You could see the "oops" look on Ezri's face at that comment. Before Worf had given her absolutely no reason to believe he thought of her as Jadzia 2.0. I think that's when she realized it had been a mistake.

As for Ezri being Jadzia's inferior successor I don't think she is, but that's jmo. My curiosity for the OP is why that's even important if he's so pissed off at Julian. I get that he obviously thinks it's a way to reinforce his position that Julian accepted "sloppy seconds"; but I think it's much more telling about his general feelings about Ezri coming in after Jadzia's death. What if he felt Ezri was Jadzia's superior successor, would it be okay for Julian to pursue her then? Would it still be sloppy seconds? Would Julian still be considered a creep for obviously wishing to pursue someone even more incredible than Jadzia?

That said, I like Julian/Ezri much better than Julian/Jadzia. I'm not a big fan of Jadzia anyway, but I think Julian and Ezri are more compatible. I can't see Julian participating in all the Klingon stuff that Jadzia liked. Also, Julian had Jadzia on a pedastal which would likely have doomed any relationship they would have pursued. He didn't have this issue with Ezri.

Yeppers. I like how she tried to force a smile, but then turns away, deep in thought....

 Excellent point, mate. Frankly, I also am becoming increasingly convinced that this is not a "Julian disgusted me as a person" thing, but a "Julian disgusted me with his choice of Ezri-whom-I-despise" thing.

Absolutely. He highly admired and respected them both...but his infatuation with Jadzia kinda struck me as self-deception. Note how, in "A Man Alone", when he takes note of the cold skin of Trills, he remarks, "Cold hands, warm heart."

Ah...Jadzia was not the warmest girl on the station, in the early seasons. She was cold and, frankly, patronizing towards men and the concept of romance.

The latter-day Jadzia, of course, was wild and crazy about all things fun-and-Klingon. By this time, the flirting and bantering between her and Julian had basically ceased.

Anyhow...Julian had put her on an irrationally high pedestal of his own making.

Ezri...Julian had started out his relationship with her as friends, and the relationship gradualy went deeper in deeper. To go back to the "pedestal" analogy, Ezri's pedestal had steps. :)

Its rude to go off topic in a thread about something different, this thread was meant to be about a specific subject and its simply bad forum etiquette for people to start a huge other argument about something unrelated.

Also, I really liked Nicole DeBoer's performance as Ezri and found Ezri to be a very watchable character. I didn't despise her, I only found it disconcerting that she assumed most of Jadzia's life.
I'm done with this argument as a whole anyway. I've expressed my opinion about how disgusted I was that Julian paired up with another Dax and can accept some people disagree.
