I'd watch it just because at least they're actually wearing their fucking costumes and willing to be the superheroes you know from the comics.

Where as Tom Welling's Clark Kent just continues to wallow in pity and refuse to become Superman now as Smallville is about to hit a decade on the air next season.

Yeah, I'm pretty tired of the "Clark is destined to do great things, but not today" schtick of the show, which became really annoying in the JSA two-parter.

I would give a JSA spin off a look see...heck I was willing to sit through a Supergirl show when that was rumored a couple of years ago. As potentially expensive as a live action Legion of Superheroes show would be I would be really hooked to see this.

As for Allison...yes it has been strongly rumored that she won't be renewing her contract and she's been an 11th hour signee for the past couple of seasons. I doubt money would be a really big issue for her. I suspect and this is my personal theory is that she wants to branch out as a director since she's been taking up those duties over the past couple of seasons. I think she's fascinated by the process. I haven't really enjoyed the way her character has been written over the last two years since her "death" and "resurrection" at the end of season seven. The Legion stated that they have no records of Chloe Sullivan in their time and you could take that several ways...I would have loved to have Dr. Fate see her destiny. If Smallville is granted a tenth season I am strongly considering dumping the show. I'm also getting tired of them milking Clark Kent for all he's worth. Clark isn't Bruce...they have him operating like Bruce did before he came up for the idea of a mask and costume. All of this self doubt and constant questioning indeed creates drama but just isn't constructive character evolution.

I never meant that she was going to end her career after Smallville I just speculated on her fascination for directing. I am still hoping for that HBO detective series with Kristen Bell that we all used to joke about

I liked the episode a lot. But the ratings were not that great. It was beaten by two reruns!

Smallville is so of the radar of most people at this point. A very small group of loyal viewers and comic book fans maybe excited that the show is bringing in more comic book elements. But this show has been on for NINE YEARS! Its old news. Its not rerun anywhere. As slow as Clark's development, most people are thinking "too little, too late".

Bringing in a group of characters that is largely unknown outside of comics is not going to change that. Certainly not generate interest in a JSA show. Definitely not on the CW. There is a reason that Smallville has been what its been all these years. It has been aimed at a certain demographic. Only reason its doing more superhero stuff now is because at this point the CW does not really care what they do anymore.

This has always been one of my issues with the CW is why they continually keep renewing the series when on another network the show would have been axed five seasons ago. Smallville though is one of their higher rated shows so maybe this is part of their decision making when debating on renewing it. They don't really have much else going for them. Is 90210 still on?

I've never seen Legion. Is it better than Absolute Justice? I gave up on Smallville during one of the early seasons. It's all kind of a blur of a bad writing. I think I've blocked most of it out. Though, I remember being entertained by the Lex scenes (thinking that I could enjoy the show more if they just removed all the other characters).

Ah that's a long time ago. I don't know if "Legion" is better than "Absolute Justice" but I would count it among my top ten favorite Smallville episodes. The writing has been a problem of mine for years as well as some of the acting not all of it. The actress who played Stargirl was pretty bad IMO. I really enjoyed Absolute Justice...sorry that you didn't.

I think a spin off would be a good idea. Spend the first season gathering up both old and new versions of the heroes while also being introduced to some new villains. Season two is the search for the new Dr. Fate. This would allow the bringing in of some powerful characters like The Spectre, Phantom Stranger, Etrigan(who would be just awesome to see on screen)none of whom would stick around but be used to move the story forward and we finally meet the top bad guy for the series Vandal Savage. Vandal would work as the big bad as Hawkman/woman could have been killed by him a few times in the past. So that history could be worked into the story.
