If the JSA was a backdoor pilot, and ends up becoming its own show, and was headed by Geoff or other writer(s) who know the material, do you think you would watch the spinoff if it retained some of the better elements of ABSOLUTE JUSTICE?

Rob

Oh..and I put it here in the TV FORUM because I am talking about a possible TV show. If the mod wants to move it over to SCIFI forum fine; but I think it qualifies as a TV forum subject as well..as surely as LOST.

Rob

The episode(s) certainly had the feel of a spin-off pilot. If a series happens, I'll be watching.

I'd probably watch, but like I said in the grading thread, it worked as part of Smallville, but seems too campy to be a good show in its own right.

The reason I want it dead is because instead of having JLA be like the comic book, it'll be a Smallville-fication of the JLA concept, with the characters not wearing their famous costumes just so that they can keep the trendoids who don't read comic books anyway and wouldn't give a fig about Superman or the JLA. If that's what they want, then I'll be glad if it doesn't get off of the ground.

I agree with you. I would want it to be like the show we just saw last week. I don't even want Clark on the show, if he's going to be the leader, because I find his leadership skills lacking anyway.

Hawkman should be the leader. I understand the budget issues with doing someone like Alan Scott (the first Green Lantern), but even if he was only on once or twice a years, I'd love to see it.

But it would HAVE to be done in the style it was last week on Smallville; with Geoff or another experiences JSA writer running the show.

I'd watch it just because at least they're actually wearing their fucking costumes and willing to be the superheroes you know from the comics.

Where as Tom Welling's Clark Kent just continues to wallow in pity and refuse to become Superman now as Smallville is about to hit a decade on the air next season.

On that I agree. Never understood. I actually haven't watched smallville since season three. The constant splitting lana/clark apart, lex almost finds out, then it all resets the next year and they're all back in school or whatever got real old..

Then I watched this episode last week. Clark didn't drive this episode, Hawkman does. So if they base it around Hawkman's angst, and they wear their costumes, then I am on board.

^The strong rumour is that Allison Mack will not be renewing her contract, so don't bet on it.

There is one thing that can change her mind. $$$. Because, as much as I like her, I don't see her doing much else beyond smallville. And I think Tom Welling isn't going to do much either. And unless she wants to end up on some dumb reality show on MTV4 , she'll sign up.

I'll agree with that.

I'd definitely watch a JSA spin-off. I've been wanting them to do a Justice League spin-off ever since they first had Green Arrow on, and I'd welcome a JSA series almost as much.

My only request would be that they either include Ted Grant/Wildcat (one of my childhood favorites; I was tickled that they made reference to him) as a regular or that they find a way to bring back Sandman and Brent Stait's Dr. Fate.

Oh, and better villains...
