I lived back in the day before cable when Star Trek wasn't on TV every day.
So I personally always want a physical copy so I can always have Star Trek at my fingertips whenever I want it.

Little interest in Discovery, certainly. Allegedly TNG had little physical interest as well, maybe the latest price drop will get more people to buy the remaining sets. It's just sad that people weren't aware or, worse, didn't care about all the work that went into it.
Given the cost of Discovery's first season ($8-10 per episode), both DS9 and VOY could have been remastered and still be $30M or more ahead and even if not instantly in physical media sales, which are good for big names like TREK and even more if labeled "limited edition", streaming will make up any differences soon enough - even if it's a couple years.
If "All Access" encompasses all premium program content, are there really more people subscribing solely for DSC than for the whole array of offerings?
The new shows are still great (even if you or me or anyone doesn't like all or parts of them) as they can drive interest in older editions and the new ones have to take risks even if it's in the same franchise (like the spore drive: the puree effect of the ballet dancing ship is interesting but problematic in concept... as well as known science issues are a misfire, and the legalese behind who owns what hasn't helped matters - but the new NCC1701 design in DSC looks marvelous, regardless if it's in canon universe or not, along with the spinning ship effect, there are very easy ways to address it all in a series finale...)
I'm boycotting boycotts until we see an end to nonsensical gestures of protest that are utterly meaningless and will accomplish absolutely nothing.
Besides if you really feel the need to protest something in this world, there's plenty of causes that should be taking your attention before this subject.

What's your take on the Picard Series? I'm legitimately curious. Even though it would technically be "Millenial Trek", it's the first one -- other than Nemesis -- to not be a prequel or reboot.
Sure you don't want to downgrade to VCR tapes and i'm not talking about official ones that would come from Columbia House I believe it was. I mean copies people recorded off their tv and somehow those tapes are still around.

Oh yes, I've got them too. From Canadian broadcast, early to mid 1990s. Still love having them all. Wish I'd included *more* commercials, ironically - as at the time it was a pain to cut them out during broadcast.
I am thankful I have never watched those shows in such a low resolution as 480i, 576i all the way.
Cheers, yes those 96 more lines of resolution can make a big difference. If you are the kind of Trek nerd that wants to pause and read all the available LCARS graphics. And I would take the DVDs over broadcast any day - the broadcasts are only as good as the cable connection.
At some point, yes. Physical media is still booming in many parts of Asia for example. So even if they cut off discs from being sold in North America you could still likely get them from years to come from somewhere else - at a higher cost of course.
The only way to stop this thread is to buy the Blurays, and then buy them again, and keep buying the Blurays until this thread collapses.
Perhaps this thread has run its course (such as it was).
Still, I think this goes too far.

People keep posting in it. Secretly I suspect it's because everyone is hoping CBS is listening and will post a response that we have been heard and the DS9/Voyager Blue-Rays are in the process of getting started. As long as this thread lives so does our hopes!
