Which would you have preferred in a Green Lantern film. I have never been into the comic all that much so my experience of the character has been primarily the last series of Justice League cartoons, so my choice would have been for John Stewart. How about you folks?

I'd like to see John Stewart in the next film after this one (if it succeeds at the box office), and portrayed by a good young black actor.

Hopefully it does succeed. The trailer didn't do much for me, but I would have been more interested in it had it been the character I was more familiar with.

To hell with either of them, give me Alan Scott! :D

Seriously, though, I understand wanting to see John Stewart, because I enjoyed the character on Justice League. However, Hal was the Lantern I grew up with, and the whole modern Green Lantern mythos originated with him. Doing the movie without Hal, to me, would be like doing a movie with Tim Drake as the first Robin; it just doesn't feel right.

I love John Stewart. I liked his Mosaic series however to me the Green Lantern of Green Lanterns is Hal Jordan.

Personally, I'm more interested in the Green Lantern mythos at large than any single character that wore the ring, so both are ok in my book.

John Stewart. There's already enough white-bread superheroes in the multiplexes, and from what I've gleaned from the trailers so far, Ryan Reynold's take on the Green Lantern doesn't appear to be anything special.

John Stewart. Never really been a Hal Jordan fan. The Justice League animated series really showed me what a great character John was...prior to him being on the show I'd only been vaguely aware of him. I still really like Wizard Magazine's Ultimate Green Lantern proposal which featured John as GL and had a plot resembling "Training Day". I think that would have made a fantastic movie.

Yeah, man.

Anyways, I really like all the Green Lanterns, so it doesn't really bother me who's used in the films. Clearly Hal Jordan is the most iconic, so he was the one that was used. I actually grew up with Stewart though through the cartoon and Kyle Rayner through the comics. Out of the five main Green Lanterns, I actually find Hal kind of boring as a solo hero, but awesome when he's in the Justice League or paired up with The Flash or Green Arrow. Unfortunately I don't expect to see them together in a live action film anytime soon.

Definitely Jordan.

That said, should this movie be successful (dubious) the great thing about GL is that the actual characters can be swapped out. I'd like to see Guy Gardner with a good supporting role in a future movie.
