Personally if the Doctor had a Texas draw and ran around looking like Doc Holiday, it would be AWESOME.
What ever you'd be watching it wouldn't be Doctor Who (well possible the The Gunfighters which was an abysmal Hartnel story).
It was 12th and 'Final' incarnation (see video below) at the time 11 was the final incarnation and would have died on Trensalore had the timelords not have changed history and gave the Doctor a new life cycle. So it means the Valeyard was between Tennant and Smith. Tennant's negativity during his regeneration released a ton regeneration energy that almost destroyed the Tardis but it also may have released the Valeyard who popped up later as the Dreamlord.
The whole point of Doctor Who is that it is a British show about Britain. The Doctor is an alien who is more or less a British citizen. You can change the Doctor all you like, man, woman, black, white, even a horse, none of that matters. What matters is the actor is British. You take Britain away from Doctor Who, you lose the essence of the franchise. Even the 96 TV movie, filmed in Canada and set in the US understood the necessity of having a British Doctor.Plus there are other advantages, maybe instead of London, the Doctor hangs around NYC. He would confirm with the American president and the US military (which would make more sense then talking to the PM when it comes to alien invasions).
Well, I wouldn't find it blasphemous (I'm sure there are people who would, though), but I must admit a non-British Doctor would probably be a bridge too far for me. The show's Britishness is a large part of its charm, IMO. It wouldn't be the same show without it.I get the impression that a non-British Doctor would be even more blasphemous than a female doctor to a lot of fans.
This is my primary concern as well. I was unimpressed enough with the writing in this past season that I didn't watch a few episodes (I actually forgot the show was even on). It's going to have to improve sharply to keep my interest, regardless of the new Doctor or anything else.I am less worried about the new Doctor Who being a female than I am about the stories she will be dealt. The stories stopped being interesting to me, and I did not completely watch the whole of the last season. I watched the first three episodes and the last episode.
I'm more enthusiastic about it than I was, but that's really not saying much.I am going into the new Doctor's era with low expectations.
People are saying the same thing about a female Doctor. It's nonsense. If the Doctor Who logo is on, it's Doctor Who. Whether you like it or not is up to you.
In all honesty, I would not mind it at all if Chibnall went with someone else for the music. I'm one of the few who actually liked Murray Gold's loud bombastic fare, but in the last few seasons he hasn't really been delivering much that's been memorable. After a decade, maybe it's time they moved onto someone new in the music department.Still Murray Gold? Hope so.

No there's a difference.
Male or female there are traits that carry through that make the Doctor the Doctor.
Running around like Doc Holiday (a gunslinger and gambler) is goes against fundamental tenants of the character, starting with the fact the doctor does not like guns, and does not go around carrying guns.
Apart from having a collection (in The Gunfighters) which he loans out to people, and Three happily blowing away surprised Ogrons in Day Of The Daleks, and various other instances.
Though (collection aside) he can always do Elliot's line from Leverage: "Just because I don't like guns doesn't mean I don't know how to use them"
