Jodie Whittaker is the 13th Doctor

In my cursory glance at various comment areas, I'm seeing a lot more decrying of criticism than any actual objections. How are things going at Galifrey Base?

Well, it's finally happened I guess. Not sure how I feel about it and nowadays everyone second guesses your sexist if you don't like it and then you wonder yourself, lol. I do hope they remember to stay consistent with the Doctor's personality and quirks. I think some people are more gleefully eager to watch the fandom explode than they actually care about the situation itself.

Was she the main in Attack the Block, the one that gets mugged in the beginning?

She has confirmed that her appearance in the trailer is not her costume - so we can't guarantee she'll play Thirteen as blond.
That's good to know. I still find it odd that she would have that hair color if that's not the final choice, but I'm happy to be wrong on that count.

I'm sure it's very ugly over there right now. If I get bored today, I might take a peak...

Kate Lethbridge-Stewart when she meets Thirteen for the first time (if she's blond): "I don't know if I should feel flattered or insulted."
I would love to see that.

She was good in Attack the Block (Only thing I've seen her in). I'm optimistic as long as she's written as THE DOCTOR and not as The FEMALE Doctor. Can't wait for the costume reveal! Hopefully they give her an iconic signature piece like Tom Baker's scarf or Peter Davison's Celery.

Wow!!! Really cool news! I honestly didn't think the BBC was going to allow for a female Doctor, but I'm delighted to see it happen. Jodie has been great on Broadchurch and I look forward to seeing her interpretation of the character.

Now the next next question is: will the show stick with the modern-day female companion formula, or go with a modern-day male?

Tell you what else- last time I saw this much fuss over a casting it was about Daniel Craig being Bond- who then nailed it and made Casino Royale a huge hit, bringing hordes back to the series...

The other funny part is they've been showing parts of that reveal in the general BBC One promos for a couple of weeks, and nobody knew that was what it was from!

Quite right. Assuming the writing is good, I'm sure she'll be great.

Heh, I didn't know that since I don't have BBC. Nice touch on BBC's part.

Only ever seen her in Antigone at the National Theatre, opposite Chris Eccleston funnily enough. She was very good there so looking forward to seeing her Doctor.

Is nothing sacred in this politically correct nightmare of a country that we live in? The next series of Doctor Who will crash even more then their reinvention of Top Gear. Why are the BBC intent on ruining their own franchises recently with terrible casting decisions. She was rubbish in Broadchurch. Ah well at least I have Star Trek Discovery to look forward to which looks amazing and will fill the void. I think that my time with Doctor Who is done for a while.
