Jobs??????

muldwych who

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
I am working a fair bit right now working back some flexi hours doing 7.30am - 6.30am and was wandering what everyone else is working as :shifty:.

I work in IT as a applications support analyst, what about you?

I am on agency work so i am bitting and bobbing.
Its a real pain at the moment there is work this week but its not set times and as i don't drive and there are no buses to the place i am working at ,i have to get the agency's taxi and the pick up is 45 minute walk away.
So the agency rings me up with a few minutes notice so i can't get there. ahhhhh

I'm a civil engineer in a suburb of Boston. We're lucky to be pretty busy right now. I'm in the midst of a design for a school renovation/expansion. It's been a frustrating project thus far.

After a couple months' drought, I have a very part-time retail job that I start on Thursday. I've been picking up a few hours a week with some lawyers I know, plus my web design business (but that's very quiet right now). I have an interview for another retail job today, so hopefully that'll get me a few more hours at minimum wage. And in a couple weeks, I start training for Census work. I've been interviewing for full-time, "normal" secretary jobs, but I actually enjoy the challenge of piecing together part-time stuff... I think I'm probably crazy.

Satellite engineer for EADS Astrium GmbH (Immenstaad, Germany), generally working in the lab and highbay from 0900 to 1800 five days a week, although I like to spend an hour or so online after work keeping up with the relevant industry literature (Acta Astronautica, AIAA Journal, etc.). OTOH, when I was working at Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems (Sunnyvale, CA.) from 2001-2005 it was at least 70 hours per week, starting at 0700 and sometimes continuing until 'round midnight five - and often six - days a week. Those were without doubt the best years of my life. :)

I'm a web/new media coordinator for a global health non-profit in D.C.

Typical day includes updating/improving our site, event photography, designing posters/invitations, compiling stats and other administrative jobs.

I have two part time jobs right now. One is working in a state department as an office assistant for just 10 hours a week. The other one, which I enjoy much much more, is a paid internship at an archives, where I run around doing archivist stuff. I have reference shifts where I work with the public about once a week and the rest of the 20 hours a week I am processing historical records, pulling or refiling records, writing finding aids, accessioning new collections, encoding finding aids to be put online, and lots of other fun stuff.

I work five days a week, usually 8:30-5:00, but I leave earlier two days a week to attend night classes.

I'm an astronomer and I work for the National Institute for Astrophysics in Italy. My research interests include observational cosmology and large-scale structure of the universe.

My schedule can pretty wild, but usually it's from 10am to 8pm from Monday to Friday. However, when I'm on a deadline it can easily extend to 2am in the night and to the weekends. To misquote Heinlein, science is a harsh mistress.

Do you guys still use POTENT (i.e., scalar gradients) to analyze the bulk galaxy velocity field?

Currently, I'm an editor at a student newspaper, though I'll be finished my contract in a couple of weeks. After that, I'm still looking for something...

I'm an artist at a video game developer. We're not so strict about the exact time, at least when we're not crunching and I've been getting in at around 9:30 and leaving at around 5:30 recently.

Assistant office manager at a physical therapy clinic (6 years - regular day hours)

Newsroom Production Assistant at WVUE-TV (since November - evenings, Sunday-Wednesday)

Network Admin for a DI post-production house in Hollywood. Hours are 8:30 to 5:30. I would kill for the 7am to 3pm shift!

I try to keep my days as close to 9 hours as possible. Hate staying late and working extra. I need my job, but I need to live too.

I'm a Cadet-Korporal in the Royal Netherlands Air Force. I study at the Royal Military Academy. When I graduate I'll be a CIS Officer at one of the Air Force bases in the Netherlands. CIS stands for Communication & Information Systems, so basically I'm the IT guy. On paper I work 38 hours a week, but in reality due to training and studies you easily work twice that amount. But I get paid quite well. We usually work from 8am till 5pm. Unfortunately I'm on sick leave at the moment due to a broken ankle. :shifty:
