Job / Apartment Paradox

Check the wanted ads for roommates. You may be able to share a house at a decent rate for awhile and move to an apartment after getting the job if you so desire.

I'm not going to fucking drive, I will then need to waste at least $600 a year on insurance, then spend a shitload on gas and then $1,000 plus on a fucking car. If I move I can save all that money. People are way too damn dependable on cars.

Bicycle.

I want to move to Northampton MA know for lesbians and hippies
It is? Damn, I've been away too long. It doesn't help my parents don't live in the area anymore.

there have been rooms in the area for rent for $350-450 a month without a lease but I need a job in the area first.
Really??? That's cheap even by Cincinnati standards and they have lower living costs than the Springfield/Hartford area. The apartments in my childhood hometown costs much more than that and many of them aren't that nice.

Agreed.,..I doubt he can find places for that little in MA.

Mmm. I recall a bunch of delis and little shops I'd picture my grandmother shopping around. But again, I didn't go up to Northampton that often anyway.

It was definitely very Mayberry in those days-- I don't know what it's like now. But it also had a strong Bohemian community. Nice mix, I thought.

Yes because I would have 4-5 housemates, mostly college students I would guess.

Whoever said bike is correct. Do people on this site even read anymore? Bike / walk to work, problem solved.

I'm almost 24, and Northampton has been known for lesbians my whole life. They even made a joke about it on The West Wing dealing with lesbians at Smith College.

If he's never rented before he'll probably need a co-signer anyway, and for me when I've rented I needed to show a pay-stub but calling the workplace to confirm income may work too.

Co-Signing for either party is bad, bad, bad.

But necessary. If you've never rented before, for example, you pretty much 100% of the time will need a co-signer.

Co-signing is not a necessity for the first time renter.

The story of my first lease: I drove into the city one morning and decided to look for a rental house. I looked for signs on posts and in front of houses. I found an acceptable house a couple hours later, called the number, got taken on a tour of the place that same afternoon, filled out the application on the spot, and in a week I was moving in.

Don't drive the Enterprise into battle when LaForge is still trying to put out fires in engineering. The key is to keep your life as close to what it is as you can, until you are ready to dive in and get the job done quickly and decisively. Sometimes the best thing to do is to stay steady and wait for the right time.
