Jessica Jones-- Marvel/Netflix

At least, I have some idea what to expect. And it's quite sinister. I'm definitely looking forward to this now.

Love the song, too.

*shudders*

Damn Kilgrave is creepy.

Looks like a lot of fun. While I've only read a little of Jessica Jones, I love that I recognized one scene from the comics already.

Oh no, Kilgrave blew past creepy about three towns back. There isn't a suitable word to encompass what a sick, depraved monster he is.

Interesting though from the trailer: Akira style experiment on a child (complete with wires in the brain) circa 1985 seems to account for the origin of his powers...and probably his state of mind. It figures he'd be one of Hydra's little side projects.

It's going to be weird seeing David Tennant playing such a menacing, evil character. I know he was a bad guy in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, but I haven't watched that in ages, and it was a fairly small part. Even with that in mind, I still associate him pretty much just with Dr. Who.

I know Tennant mainly from Who and Hamlet, but that's enough to demonstrate that he's an extremely versatile and brilliant actor who has no trouble summoning his darker side when he needs to.

When I read comics, I was never terribly impressed with the Purple Man. Seeing this trailer, Kilgrave is like the nightmare version all the government types were afraid Professor X had the potential to be. He's looking to be a really powerful psychopath and this show looks good and creepy. I should just take November 20 and 21 off. I know what I'll be doing.

You read him in Jessica Jones's comic? I think he was used far more creepily there. Even Mark Waid's Daredevil (despite a relatively sunny tone) used him to good effect.

I believe both of those are after I stopped reading comics regularly. After the show "airs," I may look up your suggestions and see if trade paperbacks or downloads are available. Don't want to spoil the show though.

^To give you an idea, think James Woods as Hades crossed with Hannibal Lecter (the Anthony Hopkins version, obviously.)

I tend to think of Kilgrave as a living embodiment of the phrase "power corrupts" because let's be honest, if you took any random person and gave them the power to make the people around them do whatever they wanted, most would abuse that power. Give it to a person who's already a psychopathic megalomaniac and...well think the Stanford prison experiment if it was performed on mental patients.

As for Tennant, I've seen him in plenty of non-Doctor Who related roles so I have no trouble imagining him pulling this off.
