Jessica Jones-- Marvel/Netflix

He looked like Matt Murdock to me

The most iconic Daredevil artist - Frank Miller - based his drawing on Robert Redford. We're talking sandy blonde/red hair. He's almost always clean shaven except when going through a funk. Really, there's very little in look that's similar. Certainly, if that's the standard, I have no idea why you don't think Ritter looks like Jones.

Jessica Jones wasn't really angsty in the comics. A lot of dark stuff happens, but the character herself (while admittedly prone to drinking and a bit of depression) never really screamed "angsty" to me. She was more the "Angry and short tempered" type than the "sit and brood" type.

Anyway, we can tell very little just by pictures. I really wouldn't jump to conclusions - particularly because there have been plenty of pictures that have shown up that show her clearly as angry and short-tempered as well.

Eh, like I said, the fact that Ritter did a horrible job on The Blacklist is what really makes me wish she didn't have the role. The fact that she looks absolutely nothing like any version of Jessica Jones is annoying, but if I hadn't seen her "acting" skills I'd be a bit more open to her casting. As it is, I've vastly lowered my expectations for the show. As long as its even slightly competent from a story perspective, gives Tennant a good amount of screen time, and doesn't completely disrespect Jessica Jones as a character, I'll consider it a win. I'm not expecting it to be any more than competent, so hopefully Ritter won't drag it down past that.

Why are you so focused on her appearance on The Blacklist? I just looked it up, and she was only in one episode! (According to imdb.) Shouldn't you judge her on her more long-running and famous work like Dont Trust the B in Apartment 23, or in Breaking Bad?

Have you watched Breaking Bad? I know that and Don't Trust the B are the two performances that get brought up the most when people talk about her.
Here's a clip from Don't Trust the B-.

Well, that clip certainly didn't improve my opinion of her acting ability :cardie: To be fair, that material was just terrible, but she definitely wasn't showing much "Jessica Jones" potential.

Well, I've never seen either, and will never watch either of them, so I use the evidence I've seen. Between the horrible performance on Blacklist and the idiotic stuff in the clip JD posted, I'm starting to think that Charlie Cox would play a more believable Jessica Jones  Anyway, I'm not saying you can't like it, I've just written off the show, or at least the parts of the show that don't include Luke Cage or Purple Man. In my opinion, Krysten Ritter is a bad, and horribly miscast, actress. I went from being excited for the show to only watching it for Tennant, Cage and my love of Marvel stuff. That's just me, though.

Breaking Bad is arguably the greatest drama made in the last ten years.

Sure, you can try it and hate it, but you haven't even tried it.

You've put a moratorium on possibly the most superb ultradrama in the last ten years for what reason?

Why won't you watch Breaking Bad? I haven't gotten around to it yet, but based on what pretty much every person who has ever watched it says, it's absolutely amazing.

I tried to watch the first episode. Let's just say I saw acting from Bryan Cranston that would have been embarrassing on Malcolm in the Middle (although I do believe it was probably the writing and directing at fault, not Cranston himself) and I turned it off. I probably didn't make it more than two minutes. I wasn't super excited for the show anyway, though. By many accounts its glacially slow and has the same problem I have with Game of thrones (every character is a horrible person you actually want to see die violently). So, even if it hadn't made the stupidest first impression I've seen in a long time, I doubt I would have lasted long.

Since when has kirk55555 been informed on anything before expressing his opinion?

 I was informed enough to decide if I would like it or not.

Really? All I've ever heard was praise for his performance.

Well, it just wasn't for me. Its probably better not to derail the thread anymore, though, and I don't think talking anymore about my dislike of Breaking Bad is going to go anywhere relevant to the topic

You're judging 47 hours of programming from the first 20 minutes?

Personally I didn't think Breaking Bad got any good till season 2, but I'm glad I put up with season one, because of the gloriousness that was to follow.

There's a movie called Search Party.

Adam Pally wakes up naked, and Krysten Rytter in her underwear is sitting on his chest with a sharpie in her hand.

They have some sexy talk about how they got into this amazingly hawt situation, but then he asks why his body is numb and why he can't move his limbs. So Krystin explains that he shouldn't take random drinks from beautiful strangers in bars, because that's what he did, and now she is going to harvest all of his very valuable internal organs.

"If you're just going to kill me, why are you almost naked!!!???"

"I didn't want to get any of your blood on my clothes when we started cutting."

I'm also not liking Krysten Ritter. Never have and probably never will. Dont like her acting or even her looks. Was very disappointed when they announced her casting.

Will of course watch Jessica Jones, since its MCU, but not that much excited about it.

I only vaguely recall her from Breaking Bad (I binge watched the whole thing in a fortnight) but I don't recall having a strong reaction one way or the other. She seemed to be a good actress though who had good chemistry and managed to hold her own in a scene with John De Lance, so there's that.

My only worry with her casting as Jessica Jones is that she seems a little younger than I would have thought Jessica from the comics was supposed to be. More late 30's early 40's than early-to-mid 30's. Most of that is in the attitude though, so I'd reserve judgement until I see her in a scene.

Well, comics Jessica Jones is definitely not supposed to be late 30s early 40s, she's the same age as Peter Parker (so probably mid to late 20s at this point in the comics universe) so I don't think they casted badly age wise, I just don't like the actress.

The first footage isn't all that action-y, but I got a chuckle out of it.
