Jeri Ryan interview where she talks about her son

EJA

Fleet Captain
I recently watched an interview that Jeri Ryan had with Craig Ferguson from a couple of years ago on Youtube. They talk about a bunch of stuff, and then the topic gets onto Jeri's young son Alex and she tells him about Alex's growing obsession with girls. She even mentions how her kid sometimes talks to her openly about having wet dreams. Now as much as I like Jeri Ryan, I can't help thinking that it was a bit insensitive of her to reveal such a personal and potentially embarressing thing to so many people, especially when one considers that her son has autism and may not have a particularly easy social life. Maybe I'm being silly, and I realise Jeri didn't mean any harm, but I just feel bad for Alex being put in a situation where people could poke fun at him.

But apparently you don't feel so bad for him that you won't continue to spread the word.

Well judging from what I saw, it's already been spread around a bit. I'm just saying I think it was wrong.

Here's how you do that:

I saw a Jeri Ryan interview in which she shared a potentially embarrassing personal story about her son. I felt kind of bad for him seeing his mother talk about him like that. Did anyone else see the interview, and if so, did it bother you, too?

Conveys your point without spreading the information around further ...

In my head. I just put the quote tags on it to make it obvious that "this is what you should say."

IMO it's her son, so she can say what she wants.
However, I think it's in bad taste for us to talk about him.

I don't mind talking about the stars themselves because they are in the public eye but their family members that aren't should be off limits.

Having good taste isn't a requirement to post here. Sure, it would be great if everyone had some empathy for the kid.

While we're at it it would also be great if people didn't text while waiting at a stop light so that by the time you get going you miss the light while they make it...

Erm....no, sorry, I cannot agree with this. He is an individual with feelings, and they have to be respected. She shouldn't have revealed this to the public in the first place.

Everyone has their moments of "open mouth, insert foot." Even parents. Unfortunately, one of Jeri's moments was on television.

Since he doesn't appear to be permanently sulking and glowering when he's with her in public, I'd hazard a guess that he's forgiven her.

Not to get too far off topic but I've even seen people reading the newspaper while driving.

Can you imagine?

EJA: people make off color remarks about children be it theirs or not all the time, what are you going to do? It happens. As long as she isn't abusing him, a comment made mistakingly in jest doesn't really bother me. I'm sure they talked about it in private later on.

Besides, I found Britney Murphy on the Tonight Show saying Ashton Kutcher had a small penis and was lame in bed much funnier anyway.

Will Wheaton & Jake Lloyd got tons & tons of hate mail from fans saying all types of nasty things. Lloyd said grown men would walk up to him on the street and say to his face: "You suck! You ruined Star Wars for me!" Can you imagine being a child and having full grown adults telling you that as you walk down the street?

I know a woman who gave herself a French manicure while driving from Boston to Albany.

Fortunately, I now live 3000 miles away from any road she'll be on.
