Jennifer Sisko's Maiden Name?

Red Ranger

Admiral
In Memoriam
I thought I might find this info on Memory Alpha, but no such luck. Did they ever establish what Jennifer's maiden name was on the show, either in a throwaway line or in some non-canon source? Bet no one will be able to answer, but maybe one of you will surprise me. Thanks!

It was Aniston...even in the far future that girl's relationships end in tragedy. :wah:

It's those little character gaps that kind of make me scratch my head. It would've been so simple in the first ep, when Sisko has the orb-induced flashback to when he first meets Jennifer, for her to have introduced herself with her full name. Oh well!

Nyuk nyuk nyuk nyuk! At least Angelina Jolie didn't steal him from her!

It's also interesting that Jennifer took Sisko's name, but Kasidy didn't. (Did she?)

I don't recall any mention of "Kasidy Sisko" in either Worlds of DS9-Bajor or Rough Beasts of Empire. Kasidy's an altogether different person from a loyal Starfleet wife, though -- she's very independent. Hard to see her going for a lot of traditional elements.

According to MA the scripts following the wedding ep hyphenates her name to Yates-Sisko and that she was referred to as Mrs Sisko in dialog, whether this is just in the or if it made it into an episode I'm not sure.

As for Jennifer, the first mirror episode she appeared in would have been the perfect time to give her a maiden name as she was separated from Mirror Ben Sisko, so it would be believable if she started reusing her maiden name. It would have added seemingly a tougher hurdle for Ben to jump as she has stopped using his name, plus we'd get to know the name of one of the privileged Terran families in the MU.

Was there a chance she got assimilated by the Borg? Afterall, death for us may not mean anything to the cybernetically/technologically superior Borg.

We don't have onscreen precedent for the Borg assimilating a lifeless corpse. I guess it would be quite doable, but the mind would probably be gone and not retrievable - unlike in those cases where a person is assimilated alive, then killed, and then reanimated (like in "Unity"), and the mind can perhaps be downloaded from the Collective.

The Borg claim they want to improve the quality of life of their humanoid victims. I guess one could say that reanimating a corpse would be an improvement - but the "client" would be gone. All the Borg would gain would be another walking body, and we don't know if they do that sort of thing.

The novel Lesser Evil features Elias Vaughn discovering his supposedly dead wife has been assimilated. The author of the novel had originally pitched the idea to the DS9 writers with Sisko finding Jennifer alive, but assimilated.

I doubt the Borg would bother assimilating a corpse. The brain would be dead, and thus no mental activity or knowledge which could contribute to the collective. Plus, Borg implants might not be able to control such a body.

And as we have seen, the Borg go after those individuals who are a threat to them. The dead are no such threat.

As for Jennifer: There's no indication the Borg ever got any drones aboard the Saratoga, nor did they beam her away. So her problems are over....

Thanks! That must have been the memory I had when I suggested that. I'd forgotten about reading that book.

Wasn't there a VOY episode saying that crew from Wolf 359 had been assimilated? Unity?
