Jenna is Going

Why not, have we ever had parent child companions (leaving aside the Ponds obviously!)

The Doctor's first companion was his granddaughter.

But you know, that's an idea... it might be cool to have a companion who was the child or grandchild of a past companion, with the old companion showing up in a recurring role so we could explore their feelings about passing the torch. We've sort of got that with Kate Stewart at UNIT, but neither she nor her father the Brigadier was ever technically a companion.

Well I meant a parent and a child, and since neither Susan's mum or dad was around, and since the Doctor can't be his own companion...:)

^^Jackie and Rose though is a good call.

Would it be a little corny to use any of the kids from The Sarah Jane Adventures or would people like to see them make the leap to DW companion?

I'll be sad to see her go. Although, I do think it's really funny how several "have known for months" that she was going, but only said so after the article came out!!

I don't talk about the stuff that crosses my desk until it's public. I like having my job, after all. :)

A tabloid article is hardly going public! Specifically, that article was unfounded rumor and seemed purely speculative.

But, yeah, it's a good thing having a job!

I've been saying for quite a while that I'd love to see Clyde and Rani on Doctor Who. But the subject was parent-chid companions. I guess it might be kind of wild to have Gita and Rani take a spin in the TARDIS together, but I dunno if I could take that much of Gita.

People have been suggesting Clyde, Rani, and Luke (in whatever permutation) as companions since they were introduced. :)

Potentially, I realize, almost any of the companions could have children. I'm trying to think of past companions I'd want to revisit that could have children. The list I've come up with -- Jamie, Leela, Nyssa, Peri.

Oh, hey, we did meet Jo's son in "Death of the Doctor" on The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Yeah, I got the impression they were being lined up to be appearing again.

I did wonder if the show could morph into The Jo Grant Adventures rather than ending, but that seemed a bit disrespectful to Elisabeth Sladen.

Actually, the Brig did tavel back in The Three Doctors, as well as The Five Doctors, didn't he? So, that's two TARDIS Trips, therefore, technically a Companion ;)

Was he her son, or Grandson? I'm pretty sure he was her Grandson

Naw, I think it'd be awesome if he started knocking around with actual, humanoid jelly babies. This series is supposed to be about consequences. He'd have to do a LOT to make up for devouring thousands of their children over the centuries.

And ANY companion leaving shouldn't be a surprise. Only an announcement of the Doctor leaving before or after the (expected) three series + specials term would be a true shock these days. As has already been pointed out, it's about getting out before you've worn out your welcome. I can't say that Jenna has or not, but I'm sure the actress is thining of her career as much as the next person will be when they get hired to fill the void.

But yeah, bring us a Tardis team with one member not of contemporary Earth! Mix it up, have two of them, one from 2015 London, and one literally from ANYWHERE ELSE AND ANY TIME BESIDES NOW.

I would like to see Susan and Jenny again, and discover if there's a connection there.

I have no interest in seeing Jenny again, but Susan is on my very short list of things from the Classic series that I'd like to revisit. Lots of potential there. The Classic series generally didn't explore personal relationships like that, but the new series does.

Plenty of people have travelled in the TARDIS without being companions -- Jackie Tyler, for instance, or the Master.

Oh, of course, you're right.

How about if Jenny is Susan's mother ?

Lets not forget Wilf and Donna!

Oh, I've been trying to forget Donna...

In the Nerd Debate over "Who can be considered a Companion", I believe, the rule is "2 Seperate TARDIS Trips" to qualify as a Companion

I seem to recall the Brigadier also being in the TARDIS in Mawdryn Undead.

I wonder who'll be the next companion. Personally I hope they don't have another present day Earth girl. And I think it's about time we had an oriental companion. ;)
