Jenna is Going

Ian was stuck with Barbara and Susan, to who he both equally had no romantic feelings towards in the beginning... Barbara even had a Thal boyfriend for a couple episodes, but she left him behind while Ian was sitting on his thumb...

I was curious if while stuck in the TARDIS, how the pressure cannot eventually turn into some kind of romantic dalliance for any of them?

Turlough & Peri come to mind immediately.

If they weren't coming and going at the same time.

But... I know things I shouldn't talk about.

Siblings? No timehead babies if the attractive (? Have you seen Fresh Meat? ) couple running around after the Doctor are brother and sister.

It would have been inappropriate for Ian and Susan to have any kind of romantic relationship, given that the audience of that time didn't know that Susan was really an alien who was likely several decades older than Ian (going by Romana's stated age in The Ribos Operation); it would have looked like an older teacher taking advantage of a teenage girl.

Turlough and Peri? I doubt anything would have happened, since he gave no indication that he even noticed what she looked like, and did give indication that he thought she was stupid.

Not in the one episode they shared.

But what if he stayed longer?

Healthy "teenagers" (Peri was treated like a child by her step father in Planet of Fire, but next season the Doctor regarded her as an adult, meanwhile Turlough wore a (sexy) "Schoolboy" uniform throughout... Imagine if one of the actresses wore a (sexy) Schoolgirl uniform? ) in close quarters with no supervision or moral compass?

I was pondering about the heightened emotional pressure from living in the TARDIS just like 11 did when he took Rory to meet the Vampires of Venice, so that Amy and Rory would be on the same level when they got married.

Are you calling matt Smith a liar?

:)

Consider this: Turlough was royalty on his own planet - a place far more technologically advanced than the backwater planet he'd been exiled to (Earth). The first thing he knew about Peri after rescuing her was that she was greedy and selfish. That's hardly the basis for friendship, let alone romance.

As for Turlough being sexy... please. He wasn't sexy to me until he got out of that uniform and into a pair of shorts.

Did you find Romana II sexy in the schoolgirl outfit she wore in City of Death?

I don't have to. Matt Smith constantly called himself (his Doctor) a liar. I liked Rory, tolerated Amy, and loathed Matt Smith.

I'll be sad to see her go. Although, I do think it's really funny how several "have known for months" that she was going, but only said so after the article came out!!

Mr Awe

Mark at the time was not unattractive, but I was more so laughing about how a sexy school girl costume is a MILLION times more exciting than a sexy schoolboy costume.

It was a comment about the clothes, not the people.

A fetishist for redheads is a called a "pumpkin pounder".

And Lalla?

Lalla could have worn a burlap sack and made it look stunning.

And then we have a show with an older looking Doctor and his middle-aged/older woman companion? I don't think so. Not unless she comes with an adventurous scamp of a son or daughter.

Why not, have we ever had parent child companions (leaving aside the Ponds obviously!)

I kinda figued Clara would go soon, in fact I'm slightly surprised she'll last the season. Oh well tis the nature of Who and better a companion leaves you wanting more than stays longer then they should.

I thought she did in The Nightmare Of Eden and it didn't look all that great on her.
It looked okay. Romana II often dressed for comfort, and didn't worry if her outfits would appeal to Earth people. She dressed to please herself.

There was that time when Jackie came along with Rose and the Doctor... :p

Yes because royalty only have sex with women of their own station who they have long-term romantic interests with.

The BBC have basically confirmed it by relasing a statement saying, "You'll have to tune in and watch to find out if she's leaving or not."

My money on the next Companion is on Danny Pink's sister who turns up in a couple of episodes this series, in at least one of which she gets to travel in the TARDIS.

:vulcan:

Point out to me where I mentioned anything at all about sex. Plus, feel free to quote the part of my post where I equated sex with romance.

*waits*

Turlough showed no romantic, sexual, or even genuinely friendly interest in any of the Doctor's female companions - not Tegan, not Nyssa, and not Peri - until he was literally saying his goodbyes, and asked her to look after the Doctor, because "he gets into such terrible trouble." (paraphrase)

Whenever he did make an overture to Tegan, it was always for the purpose of forwarding the Black Guardian's agenda - never because he genuinely liked or respected her.

I started this, and I am always talking about sex, but this time I postulated that if Turlough spent a season with Peri instead of 1 episode, that nature SHOULD have taken it's course because they are both young, healthy and attractive with no obvious obstatcles, and constantly being put into and out of life and death situations.

Oh.

Oh, no.

If Turlough had stayed one more episode, all three of them would have gotten radiation poisoning and they still only would have had the same amount of remedy/cure... One dose for one person.

Sophie's choice.

Who would the Doctor have cured, and who would he have let die?

The boy who had been travelling with him for a year, or the girl he had met hours earlier?

Considering Turlough's past situations, he would most likely have been fine, as he would either have gotten lost in the TARDIS (and therefore never have been in trouble) or locked in a cell somewhere while the Doctor and Peri had the bulk of the action in the episode.

Unfortunately, the writers never really knew what to do with Turlough outside of the Black Guardian story arc.

Am I three episodes ahead of you?

I quite liked her in yesterdays leaked episode.

That whole Impossible Girl thing, tracking the doctor, reversing the intelligences changes tot he timeline, that was only about his life before his "death" on Trenselor?

Becuase thousands of her fractals could yet still show up to nudge everything towards victory.

I don't talk about the stuff that crosses my desk until it's public. I like having my job, after all. :)
