Yeah I mean it was slapstick, it was cheesy and it was just fun. Especially when it was colorized, but even black and white it was fun. Hey I even had a couple of old black and white TVs that I used to use too, one thing my dad told me ages ago, when we were cleaning out his old childhood home and there was still a black and white tv and I was trying to watch my cartoons on it. "Just imagine the colors. Hulk Hogan can be colored like the Incredible Hulk if you want!"

But IDOJ seemed to embrace the Sixties bright and fun feeling far more than Bewitched. I never could stand Endora and you're right, it did seem a bit stuffier. I still can't really get into it watching reruns now. I mean its like Pushing Daisies or even Desperate Housewives are today, that sort of "hyper-reality" that doesn't take itself super-seriously. Colors are more saturated, things more... fantastic. I like that. I guess that's why as hokey and cheesy as some TOS is, if you take it in context of the times, it was wholly reflective of the 60s. Bewitched... it was sixties, but I guess I could take a genie more than I could take a witch as fun. Genies are wish fulfillment. And heh Major Tony being able to restrain himself around Jeannie was fun to watch, he really tried to keep it straight laced around her, even though Roger just enjoyed the hell out of her.

It was kind of like the first super-hero in hiding show, Jeannie was incredibly powerful, if a bit ditzy, but she had to work really hard to restrain herself and "play" being normal. I always thought they should have gone the Batman route and have Jeannie and Tony as like spies or something, working for Army Intel or something.

Did anyone ever notice that almost everyone on Bewitched was constantly drinking? Even more than on other shows from the same time period.

Y'know you're right... lol - after reading this topic I watched some of an old Bewitched episode and yeah it seemed like the martinis and other drinks were pretty free-flowing in that house.

Tsk... what will the children think! Next thing you know they'll start showing NAVELS!

Maybe you need to see MORE "Bewitched" if you think they somehow missed the '60's vibe.

Now, this is not particularly 1960's related but it IS one of the funniest sequences EVER from "Bewitched". I LOVED Uncle Arthur.

I loved both shows but I preferred Bewitched over IDOJ anyday mainly because of Uncle Arthur, Aunt Clara, and Endora. Uncle Arthur was always making me laugh histerically, Aunt Clara was always clumsily coming into Sam's house, and Endora was always calling Darrin a funny name like "dustpin" "deerweed" and "darweed". :guffaw:
