JD's Comic Book Thread

The way I understand it, all their releases are available through all three distributors, and the shops can choose from which one they order.

The most recent issue of LoSH that my store has available is #5. I also believe there are some other missing issues. Anybody have ideas about the missing weeks?

I don't know, but could be that Diamond still has issues in stock that they'll be distributing as ordered. The first few DC books released through the new distributors were apparently printed in March, way before Diamond's shut-down, so maybe DC themselves still have issues in stock. Better contact your LCS, if they don't know, they can contact their distributors.

With the missing issues, will be interesting for us in Europe, considering Diamond UK shut down a week earlier than North America, we didn't even get the April 1 books.

I believe they are trying to avoid releasing any "big" books until most comic shops are reopened for "regular" business. Most LCS are only allowed curbside service at present.

Legion has been pretty consistently running a few weeks behind. Hopefully this has given them a chance to catch up.

If you thought retailers were pissed at DC for their Digital-First line a few years back, well, get ready for a shitstorm, because Marvel just announced several titles to be released digitally in May. These issues were previously solicited for print release, but now won't be released in print for several months. Also, while DC's Digital-Firsts are set outside the main DCU, these are issues from already ongoing books like "Ant-Man" or "Ghost-Spider".

Since we were talking about Mark Waid's Flash earlier, I thought this might be of interest to some, Mark Waid was interviewed by Hector Navarro for DC Daily:

Well, screw you, Marvel, for setting a bad precedent. DC just announced they'll end both Supergirl and The Terrifics, and the remaining issues will be released digitally only.

Yeah, but they only have one or two issues left, and I was buying those floppies. I liked those book, but not enough to buy the Tpbs where I already know five of six chapters.

Yeah, that does suck for people who have been reading the series that don't do digital comics.

That sucks. FWIW I am a fan of monthly titles too, and I almost started getting The Terrifics because all of those characters are sentimental favorites so I do feel for you.

While the reason given for Manhunters' cancellation is the Covid19 pandemic, I wonder if it might also have to do Didio's departure and maybe the dropping or modifying of the 5G event. Whatever history for the DCU that was developed for 5G may be going away. Manhunters might have been too closely tied into that.
