Decks D and E locked down and finished - Key for E - Tea break, maybe a couple of cookies, and then F Deck :-) Comments welcome, more later today!
And next on my hit list of needing a little love - The on screen Ambassador Class. I love that Probert's original design has been realised as a 3d model (and can even be played in Star Trek Online), but the actual on screen model has a troubled history and is deserving of some thinking and love. Rough blocking out so far, refinements will come. Comments and thoughts welcome - more soon!
Still refining things, but this is the state of play at the end of today - Comments and the like welcome - more tomorrow!
I think I'm in the minority in that I have no affection for the original design, but have always liked the Ambassador as it appeared on-screen. Looking forward to your take on it!
Thank you, I am... still refining the nacelles. I will get them right.... I have no life, this is it... LOL. Naaa, I had more time than I thought today. Tomorrow is going to be tricky. I may have fractured my wrist, so I need to get it checked out. (minor fracture, painful and swollen, but still usable). Ho hum. More soon.
Don't wait too long to have your wrist checked out. You don't want to have your bones start mending on their own in a way that'll necessitate some surgery on it.
Thank you - and no worries, it's being x-rayed today GP thinks it's minor, and I can still use the fingers. More annoying, but yes painful. Affects my ability to game more than build a mesh. Stupid thing to happen, but it has. More later, I think I have the nacelle sorted at last.
Happier with the nacelle - will move on to the rest of the ship now - after getting that x-ray! Not going to work off blueprints this time. The studio model was... Problematic (being kind), and missing details (like torpedo tubes), plus there is a problem with the "official" length not really working with the model. So I am going to echo details, but try and make her work. Comments and thoughts always welcome, more much later today
Update: hairline fracture of the ulna (near the wrist). Brace to keep it immobile, nothing more they can do. Just need to let it heal. It will not affect my ability to work on 3D models. So... More soon!
I really like your work on lower sensor domes. I wonder…for perhaps larger ships…if the blocky elements could be layered…a wider, more form-fitting layer…a regular width…then the dome. I liked how SFB magnified the Klingon bridges. http://www.starfleetgames.com/KlingonB10Battleship.shtml https://www.deviantart.com/vulpes-sapien/art/Klingon-Empire-Ships-2240s-934760921 I thought that one might extend that to Federation vessels…a wider D-E deck under a B/C deck, say…not just a turbo-lift bustle but more antennae/risers pointing the way to the elaborate crown Spacedock wears.
The current sensor dome is a place holder at the moment, I plan for something more fitting :-) The bridge module, which I lifted from my Excelsior model I may actually keep on this ship, as it looks right (and most importantly would work). Still refining things and building up the detail. More soon!
