Janeway's Temporal infractions?

Crewman47

Commodore
Newbie
I was watching Relativity today and I thought it was funny what Lt Ducane said on the Relativity at the end to Janeway just before she left, how she basically wasn't to cause any more time paradoxes, and what does she go and do at the end of the series, her future self decides to take a trip back 15 or so years and erase those past events just so she can correct a mistake.

Where was Lt Ducane when this happened, did he some how miss this on the temporal sensors?

Lt. Ducane and all the rest of those future Starfleet time travelers probably realized that many of the time paradoxes that they were sent to investigate were caused by them in the first place, so the Federation dropped time travelling altogether.

I like it when Janeway breaks the temporal prime directive all the time. I liked when Admiral Janeway said she finds it's best just to ignore it. Also when Harry Kim was confused about his time travelling paradox Janeway told him it was best not to think about it, which is probably true because paradoxes do hurt my brain but it seemed like a bit of a cheat.

"The past if the future, the future is the past..."

It does beg a question here.

If the temporal police didn't go back and prevent the Admiral from messing with the time line, doesn't that mean it was supposed to happen that way? In which case, that would mean she wasn't really messing with the time line, right?

He was in the barn getting pantsed by By Vic over on the Shield.

:)

There's only two reasons they wouldn't interfered 1. because this part of their history and they needed it to happen or 2. Admiral Janeway's decision so fucked up the time line that Humans no longer control time in the 29th century.

I said it in another thread, but I will say it again.

People only see what they want to see in the Endgame scenes, some see it as making a better world; some see it as playing god and it is all wrapped up in how you see the Janeway character. Admiral Janeway did what she did, the Temporal Integrity Commission didn’t come after her, and Captain Janeway was given a promotion.

We know next to nothing about the world she changed nor the one she created. To say she destroyed lives is pure speculation by some people, you can just as easily say she saved lives too. Mostly Trek stories are guided by the assumption of "Happily Ever After" and the episode implied that this would be a safe assumption on the audience's part.

The truth is individuals have choices; they are responsible for themselves no matter what time line they are in. When Admiral Janeway changed time, everyone got a second chance but their lives still depended on their individual choices. Anything else would mean our lives are charted by unseen forces, and should be set in stone with no individual choice. We change the time line every morning when we get out of bed, does this cause a death somewhere - maybe. Are we responsible for the death, absolutely not.

Every one of Trek's captains changed time. None of them got into trouble for it either and most were rewarded for it.

You know, number 2 might explain why the 29th century time police never showed up amongst the factions in the Temporal Cold War, which ran through various versions of the 20th, 22nd, 26th and 31st centuries.

And then Archer's frelling with history in Enterprise is why there were no time police left at all to stop Nero! :rommie:

Future Guy was from the 29th century.

Brit, Janeway also gave the Borg a second chance. How is giving the Borg a second chance to assimilate humanity not like giving the Nazi's a Mulligan after they fumbled their decent stab at destroying the Jews if someone was fiddling with the origins of WWII in the 1930s?

I love Trek Fans... we are all so brilliant oh the web we weave.

Temporal machanics give me a headache. ;)

Props to those who can contribute to this conversation.

Yes she did give them a second chance too, but as far as I can see that second chance involved them dying a lot and the Queen losing her left arm and leg. That has to put a crimp in their assimilating anyone. Personally I think that Admiral Janeway destroyed the Borg, she has to have set them back a lot.

Which "future guy" are we talking about?

If its Captain Braxton, then I agree with the "29th" as the century of origin. Recall the mobile emitter was from the 29th century, and that came from Braxton's ship.
