Janeway & Chakotay

Please note: I have yet to actually watch the entire Voyager series, I am mid-way through Season Three. I do know some of the later episodes, but I missed a great deal of the story. I am working my way through on Netflix now, so please, no spoilers if you can help it.

I find myself really wanting Janeway and Chakotay to get it on? Am I the only one? Lol.

The only one? Nope. Not by a long shot!

I'm only in the fifth season but I don't think my feelings on J/C will change, but you are not alone.

I think I started shipping them in the second episode. :D

The J/C bunch is probably the biggest and most omnipresent of all the shippers in Trek. Just google Janeway and Chakotay and you will find literally hundreds of fanfics that focus on the pairing. :techman:

I'm also about halfway through season three (woo Netflix!) and yes, I'm all about J/C. It's so obvious he's got it bad for her I almost feel sorry for him.

You are most certainly not alone, as this thread probably proves. :guffaw: I'd really say it's up there with Picard/Crusher.

And hundreds of fanfics? Thousands! ;)

What took you so long? I was shipping myself with Chakotay the second I saw him on his Maquis ship.

Eh. Beltran's not bad looking, but he lacks a necessity for me and that's a British accent. ;)

But he does have delectable lips

Nope ur not alone, Just read the books VOY: Full Circle. and VOY: Unworthy

:drool::drool::drool::eek::eek::eek::rofl::rofl::guffaw:

I think it was right to have her abstain from a relationship while in the DQ, but that doesn't mean that they couldn't have hinted at one now and then. I think that Janeway and Chakotay were very close, intimate friends by the end of the series--maybe even with benefits. But a real relationship between them would be impossible until they were home. That said, I sure enjoy fanfic where they are together from the first!

What a bout a compromise?

If she was so unbelievably hot, couldn't we have seen Janeway turning down an endless stream of men and women interested in mounting her?

Cause admit it, we all loved Joanie rejecting Chachi, but that spin off show about them loving each other was complete shit until she dumped him because it had been cancelled.

We did see her turn down the dude with the halos in season 1's "Prime Factors"

GATH: Couldn’t you create a new home here, with us? Can you imagine a more delightful place to live, where you could pass your time extracting pleasure from every moment. I promise you, you and I have many such moments to explore.
JANEWAY: Yes, but for how long? I’ve seen how quickly you get tired of your pleasures. All that interests you is what’s new and unexplored. After a day or two it becomes commonplace.

Also in the first season we see Neelix play up to her vanity in a decidedly Talaxian fashion...

NEELIX: Captain! May I say, you look beautiful this morning. Is that a new colour lipstick?
JANEWAY: No. No, it's the same colour I always wear.
NEELIX: Well, perhaps it's just the way the glow of the food heater lamps hit you but you look wonderful. Not to suggest you don't always look wonderful.

 SPOILERS AHEAD, for season 3-5

As for turning offers down... we have THIS famous suitor in season 3....

JANEWAY: What are you doing here?
Q: To us.
JANEWAY: There is no us, Q.
Q: The night is young, and the sheets are satin.
JANEWAY: I want you out. But first, get rid of this bed.
Q: I have no intention of getting between those Starfleet issue sheets. They give me a terrible rash.
JANEWAY: Since you won't be getting in the bed, I wouldn't worry about it.
Q: Oh, Kathy, don't be such a prude. Admit it. It has been a while.
JANEWAY: And it's going to be a while longer. Now get out.

Then again, there's the J/C subtext in the WWII holdeck scenario. J and C are crawling side be side through the jeffries tubes...

CHAKOTAY: You're a gung ho kind of gal, aren't ya?
JANEWAY: Does that bother you?
CHAKOTAY: Nope. Just not used to it, that's all. The girls back home are a little different.

and the season 5 ep... "Timeless".

CHAKOTAY: True, but if you showed this data to any Starfleet engineer they'd think we were out of our minds. We can find another way home. We've waited this long.
JANEWAY: Long enough, we've waited long enough. I know it's a risk, probably our biggest one yet but I'm willing to take it. Are you with me?
CHAKOTAY: Always.
JANEWAY: Speaking of risks. Are you ready to try some home cooking?
CHAKOTAY: I'll alert Sickbay.

Or season 5's "Counterpoint"

JANEWAY: Well, good night.
KASHYK: Captain, why don't you join me? I've been looking forward to trying your replicator. Well I'm sure that I can come up with something to toast the evening. We've accomplished quite a bit today.
JANEWAY: I'm afraid that won't be possible. I had your replicator taken offline.

If there's one thing I've learned from watching Voyager's competition from the 90's... (X:WP) its that many times, less IS more.

I don't need to see Janeway shoot down a string of suitors to prove to me she's a "catch".

And I don't need to see her rolling in the hay with Chakotay to prove to me she's interested.

I just need to see her wear the one item I've never seen another Star Trek Captain wear in 45 years, just because he gave it to her... I just need to see her pick that item up and look at his empty seat at the end of Year of HEll" to remind me that there's more emotion there than simple fraternal collegiality.

Ah, yes, those last quiet moments before the end in Year of Hell where she obviously thinks of Chakotay. That was a gift to J/Cer's everywhere.

Most certainly yes.

I certainly prefer it over what was going on between Seven of Nine and him in the last season. I can't hardly think of a worse pairing – not only they weren't a good one, they weren't even a bad one. It was a bad choice for both characters in any sense that I can think.

Every time something didn't happen between Chakotay and Janeway I couldn't help asking myself what are they waiting for (and what are the writers waiting for). I don't like Chakotay that much as a character, but if something happened between the two I would certainly like his character more. One of the few reasons I saw for his existence on the show was as someone who is by Janeway's side...

...and even that wasn't done properly. I think him and Janeway not getting closer is one of the many bad choices that made his character worse.

And when I'm seeing episodes like Shattered that are like flashbacks of the show, it frustrates me. “There are certain lines we never cross” – well, why? Oh, and I would love to see early Janeway's face when she learns that she is going to have an intimate relationship with him. This would have been the most terrifying discovery of her life, and they failed to portray it. :(
