James Bond franchise--the return of SPECTRE and Blofeld?

OHMSS THEME Ohhhhhhhhh pass me those tissues Captain Murdock.

I'm going with Waltz not being Blofeld firmly now, the trailer signposts it so heavily it has to be misdirection (unless it was put together by the people who made the Terminator Genysis trailer).

As well as a new trailer, there's a new PR synopsis for Spectre: “A cryptic message from the past sends James Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Monica Bellucci), the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal. Bond infiltrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister organisation known as SPECTRE.

“Meanwhile back in London, Max Denbigh (Andrew Scott), the new head of the Centre for National Security, questions Bond’s actions and challenges the relevance of MI6, led by M (Ralph Fiennes). Bond covertly enlists Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and Q (Ben Whishaw) to help him seek out Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), the daughter of his old nemesis Mr White (Jesper Christensen), who may hold the clue to untangling the web of SPECTRE. As the daughter of an assassin, she understands Bond in a way most others cannot.

“As Bond ventures towards the heart of SPECTRE, he learns of a chilling connection between himself and the enemy he seeks, played by Christoph Waltz.”

I'm looking forward to this. I've enjoyed the Craig Bond's even if QoS had a measure of disappointment to it.

Looks really damn good, even if the whole "renegade Bond going on a rogue mission" thing feels a bit played out by this point. But thankfully Mendes proved with Skyfall that he knows how to bring just enough fun and humor into the story to keep it from turning into another grim and overly-serious Quantum of Solace.

And totally agreed about how awesome it was to hear the OHMSS theme again. Here's hoping they work it into the actual movie and it's not just for the trailer.

I don't think SPECTRE is going to be the Renegade Bond movie. Maybe for the first act, but the rest seems straightforward. I'm so stoked.

My guess is that Monica Bellucci is Blofeld.

Man, if you thought fans were pissed when Daniel Craig was cast, gender-swapping Blofeld would send them through the atmosphere.

Meh, some whack-jobs whined about Craig's hair being the wrong color. They lose; the guy's the best thing to happen to this franchise in thirty years.

My guess is that Monica Bellucci is Blofeld.

As interesting as that would be, that would also ape The World Is Not Enough and The Dark Knight Rises. I'm not saying that's not a legitimate creative choice -- it absolutely is -- but I could see audiences and critics not responding well to that twist because it's familiar.

The world is not enough was 16 years ago no normal person would give a shit and Bond films are pretty much critic proof.
