Jadzia's Demise

Photon said:
I never really had a prob w/TF or Jadzia except that the character was really bland and a little too acid for my taste. I'd have like to have seen TF with less speaking roles and just happily carried out orders, smiled, and looked stunning (sorta the way Damar was in his early days)

Yeah Photon that sounds like something more suited to the Voyager show or something like that that had to rely on eye candy to make up for other lacking areas. I mean even Leeta was eye candy on DS9, but she was far better acted and far better of a character than TF/Jadzia. DS9 didn't need eye candy to fill out any lackluster areas; and when DS9 did have eye candy anyways, it could have been done in a classy way with a good character, like how Leeta was. That's why TF/Jadzia drags it down.

DS9 would probably have been the perfect series had they had Ezri from the start. Instead we got Terry "I'm too smug for words" Farrell hamming it up for six year.

DS9 didn't need any Dax character from the start. Granted Ezri is a much better character and much better acted character than Jadzia, and would have been preferable to Jadzia right from the start. But really, both Dax characters were completely useless to the show and had no plot value whatsoever. Seems like they went for a an affirmative action-ish "let's insert a useless character into the show simply for the sake of getting another woman on the bridge" with both Dax characters.

^^ In the early days she came across as being little more than a crutch for Sisko, which undermined the latter somewhat.

Hey, I just thought of one thing that'd make Jadzia better:

Ah, could've, should've, would've... :brickwall:

I never had a problem with how she died. I guess I'm one of the five.

Make it six. I had no problem with it either. It was obvious she would be the victim after all the plans to start a family. They already had Kira pregnant, so Jadzia preggers in the final season would have been a distraction, not to mention redundant. And to those who say it wasn't a spectacular or well-written death, you're wrong since it had affected Sisko since he felt responsible for not heeding the Prophets' warnings. You could see him at a more emotional level from that point through "Image in the Sand".

I agree. As much as I didn't like seeing Jadzia go, her senseless death was a defining moment for Sisko - his crisis of faith and his re-committing to it. The way it happened was what it was; it even gave Worf some growth, as tragic as it was.

I would have liked seeing her on Trek as more than a one-shot guest star, but she was sensational in Goldeneye.

I like the Jadzia we have, it would be strange to think of some other woman as her character.

It would have been interesting to have the symbiot die and let Jadzia live. How do the Trill react to the death of a symbiot? How would Jadzia adjust to her loss? How would Worf react to the massive personality change of his wife?

Hint hint ... we would not have Ezri

I 'member when I first saw Ezri, as she introdued herself to Ben. I just smiled from ear to ear. Then noticed that she was pretty hot, too.

Hey dont get me wrong; I think Ezri is a total cutie. Just saying it would have been an interesting twist to have the symbiot die.

Jadzia was cool.
Yep, she was.

Jadzia couldn't live without the Dax symbiont for any length of time. See "Invasive Procedures" again for the relevant details.
