Jackill's Guide to Light Attack Craft - A blast from the past...

Have this.

Problems: no speeds given for said craft. Best guess...

Mega Traveler jump two...

Love the Asp.

Looking at it, a four seat Electronic Warfare version probably exists - same as EA-6B Prowler.

However, the three engines imply a great deal of electrical power. Two of them for powering the lasers, the third for powering the jump drive... This applies to the Viper as well.
Typical turbo generators of that size can put out about one megawatt of power.

So how can a pulse 500 times this work? The pulse lasts 1/500 of a second. Equations must balance...

When I was considering doing my book, Eric (Jackill) was kind enough to give me his number and we had a nice conversation about Trek tech publishing. I was gobsmacked to hear that he made enough money to put himself thru college with the Jackill publications! Meanwhile, my book has been out since 2017 and I think I've sold, maybe, a couple hundred. Oh well.

Out of curiosity, have you by chance maintained any degree of contact with him? I've always admired his work but I also recall that he was having some health problems, so I hope things have perhaps improved.

He's quite active on Facebook, actually, but I don't have much in the way of information on his health, etc.

Timing is everything. Back then (the 90's), Trek publications were at their peak, including tech-related manuals and reference materials, art books, etc. Hell, IIRC, the Okuda's were publishing updates to their Star Trek Encyclopedia every other year back then and they were best-sellers. Nowadays, there really isn't the market for it as much anymore. A few of us old main-stays from that time still pull in anything we can find like that, but it definitely isn't the draw that it used to be, more's the pity...

I think he's talking about the link to the Jackill website on the individual ship data sheet pages (not the big guidebook collections). I've tried the link on several different ship pages and got the 404 message on all of them.
Ah - yea, it's been down for some time now...

I used to have one, but mislaid it.

I seem to remember a DARK VIKING ship blueprint offering on STARLOG’s classifieds back then.
