I've just gotten into Falling Skies..

OK bit the bullet and purchased a box set containing all the first 4 seasons of Falling Skies, and didn't realize there was a fifth season. I just assumed it was the 4 in the set..

Anyway..

OK just finished the first season last night and have to say, it's fun but it's also one of the worst written shows of recent times.

Who was the twit that wrote those episodes?

Last episode alien lands and big chief alien walks out of ship. Perfect chance for total chaos if they put lots of bullets into the boss alien and kill him. But noooooooo Tom Mason diplomacy.

"I'll just drop all my weapons and walk onto the ship."

I hear this is a recurring theme through the whole series that Tom Mason talks, and talks, and talks, and dropping his weapons..

I'd like to make up my own headcanon for this show and even cross over genre and wonder how the Doctor would have handled the Espheni having landed on Earth and seeing the whole planet is basically fucked over good and proper like it is in the show..

He would probably talk, and talk, and talk to the Queen and if he couldn't convince her to surrender he'd manipulate someone to do the dirty and kill her...

I'm going to continue to watch the show but man it's funny for all the wrong reasons..

I'm actually mildly enjoying the clusterfuck that is Falling Skies..

It's like the writers didn't even care that they change stuff and then change it again..

1) Throw the entire box set in the microwave. Nuke it.
2) Take the remains and beat the living hell out of them with a hammer or baseball bat.
3) Collect the shards into a box and set it on fire.
4) Sprinkle the ashes in the most mosquito infested, polluted waterway you can find.
5) Walk away quickly and never look back.

Whatever you do, don't return the box set, or you will be forced to relive the shame of purchasing it and will either have to commit ritual suicide or change your identity and go into hiding for at least 15 years.

You've only been exposed to Season 1, so save yourself the pain and don't go on. That way lies madness.

In terms of sci fi shows that started off on the wrong foot and only got worse that you could compare to Falling Skies, how about the V remake?

The V Remake didn't last long, and the ending was actually kind of believable given the circumstances.

I think I wanted to get into this show because of Jessy Schram, but I don't think even Jessy Schram (or even Moon Bloodgood, who doesn't seem to have much charisma onscreen) would get me interested in this show.

Earthlings: "But your robots can't even sthoot straight, and make too much noise"

You haven't scratched the surface.

There's several executive producers each year, and the new one up at bat always has a complete new toolbox of sucky plot that they want to enhance the lore with.

I think I wanted to get into this show because of Jessy Schram.

She ended up not being a very big part of the show, appearing in only 15 episodes out of 52 scattered across the seasons.

Falling Skies is one of the few shows I have ever walked away from. It hurt me because it SHOULD have been good, it SHOULD have been AWESOME... but it just wasn't. I thought maybe it was something wrong with me, maybe if I just tried harder it would get better and would stop being so terrible. But finally I had to be courageous and realize that it was never going to get better, and all I could do was save myself.

But there are times I still miss it, and want it back.

The show was always rather trash concept though.
