I've enrolled into a university!

I'm sorry, I had to tell someone. Finally, after 10 years of waiting and concerning myself with everyone else, I finally enrolled into a university. I'll be working on my Associates in Business Foundations. :D

*dance of joy*

It was so easy, too! It took about an hour over the phone with my counselor to get it all set up, to get my FAFSA done, and now I'm all set! I get to have some higher learnin'!

*high five*

Awesome man!:techman:

Way to go to improve your life.. education and knowledge is the beginning and end of a successfull business life. Have fun, be persistent (there will come a time where you can't see books, deadlines and homework.. just push through.. it will be worth it).

And just wait until you meet all the other students.. it is like real life. Many dicks, some ok people and a few really good ones who are keepers for life.

Congratulations, J. It's nice to see you doing something for yourself. I told you that you're an optimist. :D

Congratulations! A college education is a great opportunity. Take advantage of it and make the most of it.

Congrats, positive first step!

Would recommend trying to look ahead further, though, and either take a full BA program, or plan your AS degree such that it can easily be put towards a BA later on, if you have to do it in stages. It just seems that now that most people go to college, the BA is the new minimum standard for most things (with many wanting to see a MS/MA in the field), so you don't want to do all this work, and be stuck with an Associate's degree that doesn't transfer itself towards a BA without a struggle...

Congratulations.

What does "Business Foundations" mean, by the way?

Thank you to everyone who has responded. I appreciate it! :D

It's a Business Management Degree.

Ah, understood. Good luck with it! I totally agree with LoB who suggested trying to be sure that you can segue smoothly into a BA (or beyond) when you complete the Associates. :techman:

Yep, that's the plan. My counselor and I have already set it up so I get the basic courses out of the way already so I can segue right into a BA should I want one (and I will). I'm also thrilled because I got my FAFSA papers back today and they're going to cover 1/4 of the loan, so that's 25% that's already paid off before I even graduate! :D

*high fives J.*

You know man, it's never to late to go to college and I'm so happy you decided to enroll. Good luck, and enjoy!

:D

It took long enough for that to sink into my head. Once I turned 25 I kept thinking "it's too late now", and had pretty much resigned myself to foregoing something I really wanted to do.

Dear, God, man, you must have thought me a raving lunatic when I went back at 50! :guffaw:

Congrats! :)

Congrats J. :techman: You deserve good things!

I started university at 31 and am so glad I did! Now I've been at my career of choice for 6+ years.

Good luck!

Just to be that guy, it wasn't LoB, it was good ol' Scout. Amusing to be confused for a mod, though. ;)

I'm so happy for you! I'm also really glad you're focusing on yourself more. Good luck with everything! I'm going to go do a dance of joy for you as well! :D

Congratulations on taking the leap, J.. You have earned this opportunity many times over.

You've decided to give yourself one of the greatest gifts in life. I speak from experience when I say that the rug can be pulled out from under you in a flash and so much taken away in a moment...but nothing can take away your knowledge and the pride in knowing how you worked to get it. It's the seed from which much of your life's satisfaction will spring.

Sorry dude! :o

You guys both share a pretty similar no-nonsense, generally sensible attitude, so forgive me the error! :D
