I've Become a fan of Kim Possible!

Some of you may or may not know that I had major foot surgery last month and have been non weight bearing in a full cast since (the surgery was correctional for something done last summer) so as one might imagine I've not been able to do anything except, read, surf the internet, and watch TV. While I was recovering last year I got hooked on Disney Channel. Now this summer I've started watching the animated series Kim Possible and have become addicted to it! The animation is great, the dialouge is awesome, the villains are pretty cool, and I love Ron and Kim...and Rufus is cute! It actually reminds me a little of Buffy...in a weird way. Tell me that I'm not alone in my new found love of this show? I recently watched the series finale...which disapointed me that there is not going to be any more Kim Possible...and am intrigued about how a live action movie would do, with god help me for suggesting this since its going to annoy alot of people, Miley Cyrus as Kim?

Kim Possible is the greatest cartoon ever made, bar none!

They were going to make a live action movie, the season three ending (which was originally going to be the series ending before Disney asked for a season four), "So The Drama" was going to be used, but in the end they animated, which was for the best.

This is one of my favorite cartoons; definitely one of those shows that works as well, if not better, for adults. Lots of fond genre satire. :)

I have no interest in seeing a live-action movie, since I pretty much never think that live-action adaptations of cartoons or comics are a good idea, but I'd love to see more movies or episodes. :bolian:

This always seems to be on in the morning when I'm half asleep at weekends. Every time it's on the boy sidekick looks like he's screwed up and needs help which gets a big  from me.

It's a fun show. Clever, affectionate mocking of superhero/spy cliches and conventions, and witty writing overall. And Kim is great. A super-competent, highly athletic redhead who wisecracks while fighting supervillains? That's a girl after my own heart.

I hate the naked mole rat, though.

By the way, fans of KP might want to rent the movie Sky High, if they haven't seen it already. It's co-written by the creators and head writers of KP, and has much the same sensibilities and wit, the same sly satire on comic-book cliches and formulas mixed with high-school angst. And a Michael Giacchino score doesn't hurt.

It's a fun show and the animation looks great. I'd watch it in the video store but I'm afraid it will come off pervy :p

Haven't watched it in a long time, but some time ago they got someone new for Ron's voice. Don't like him as much as the original, though.

Huh? It's always been Will Friedle. Wikipedia's astonishingly exhaustive article on the character mentions nothing about a different actor taking over. If the character's voice has changed, it would have to be due to Friedle modifying the way he plays the character, perhaps to reflect his maturation. Or if you think the change was "some time ago," it could simply be that, as is often the case with animation voices, his early characterization changed and settled down into something different later on. (Homer Simpson originally sounded like Walter Matthau, and now sounds nothing like him.)

Then he really changed the voice because it sounds like someone doing a very poor imitation of the first few seasons. I saw the first two of a new season and just couldn't watch anymore. If they're trying to "mature" his character, then the only thing that's changed is the approach to the voice.

I thought maybe they brought in another voice actor like Billy West (who, come to think of it, would probably do a great Friedle impression)

On the surface, that's part of the show's penchant for turning genre conventions upside down; if you get to know the character, and his long-term development, you'll find that there's more to him than that.

Thanks; knowing that, I'll probably watch it the next time it's on. :bolian:

Hmm, well, wasn't the new season produced after a hiatus of a year or two? Maybe Friedle had lost track of how he'd originally played the character. I've heard some voice actors say that they didn't always remember how they played a character when they came back after years.

But I saw the new season too, and I didn't notice anything significantly different about Ron's voice.

Glad to know that I'm not alone in my new found love for Kim Possible...and how can you not love Rufus? LOL! Are there DVD's available for each season or just indivivual episodes? I have been watching episodes on youtube and caught the series finale and thought it was fitting...although would like to see a fifth season and see how Ron and Kim do in their first year of college. I liked Shego and Drakken finally getting together in the montage scene. In fact the montage scene at the end reminded me of the end of "Greece" when Danny and Sandy pull away in Greece Lighting! The voice of Kim is Christy Carlson Romano who also played Renn in Even Stevens starring Shia LeBeouf...another show I liked.

There is a season one boxset (with more coming I think), but that is only in german (Kim Possible does very well in Germany!) There are a couple of single dvds released that have a couple of episodes on, and "A Sitch In Time" and "So The Drama" are available on dvd.

Hey there Admiral Young, welcome to the family of Kim Possible fandom! I've been a fan since the show was about to premiere in 2001 (I read about it in Starlog magazine) and after I saw it, I was hooked! I LOVE Kim Possible, Ron Stoppable and Rufus, as well as Timothy & Anne Possible (Mom & Dad to Kim) and everyone else, villains included. The show grew and got better season after season, and the conclusion is the best series finale for an animated show ever. Plus, I've noticed that this show is somewhat like an inverse of Get Smart, in that '99' (Kim) is the hero, and 'Max' (Ron) is the sidekick whose bumbling messes things up, but also save the day because of 'The Ron Factor'. The show also has nods to characters like Derek Flint and Modesty Blaise-especially Modesty Blaise, with her sidekick Willy being somewhat of an inspiration for Ron.

As for a live-action movie...the idea is doable, but not with Miley Cyrus, who is too busy being Hannah Montana on that show for it to work, as well as already identifiable with said character. If she were younger, I'd cast Christy Carlson Romano as Kim, with Will Friedle as Ron, but both are too old at this time to do it, and doing other things as well, so Disney will have to do a live action movie with newcomers selected by a talent search.

If you want to know what kind of fandom Kim Possible's got, check out this website (Ron Stoppable's Awesome Website); it's the best fan website ever! This site is a lot like Trek Nation and Trekweb, and its patrons were instrumental in getting the show revived for a fourth season after Joel Eisner (the Rick Berman of Disney) enforced a bullshit '65 episodes only' rule that caused the fans to protest and get the show back on the air. Check it out-you won't be disappointed.

No surprise about that; I barely saw any action figures at the Disney store here in Toronto, and when one did come out, I couldn't afford it at the time. That's why there won't be a live action movie, I think.

Yeah I've been reading the wikipedia article on Kim Possible...and am fast consuming everything I can about Kim Possible lol. Over the weekend I plan on going back to season one and starting from the begining...have no idea where the current Disney Channel re-runs are but they seem to be somewhere after So The Drama at the moment (I'm going to have to watch the movie). Last weekend I saw the episode where Shego becomes Dictator of the world and Kim and Ron are thrusted into the future to stop her, the twins are now grown up, the Possibles are living in space or something, and Ron's parents are gone? Wade is huge muscular dude who was voiced by Micheal Clarke Duncan!!! Rufus has spawned an entire army! That was the episode that made me a fan of the show, love when series do stuff like that!
After digesting all possible information about Kim Possible I might have to consider writing a screenplay for a live action movie. Casting choices would be difficult...and perhaps a CGI Rufus? LOL

That 'episode' was A Sitch In Time which is on DVD as a movie, and which is better that way, or you can see it on the Disney Channel as a movie; either way, I agree with you, it's great and quite funny. Ron's parents aren't gone; Ron's dad appears in a scene set on the moon, where, clad in a spacesuit, he repeats his statement to Ron made earlier: 'I'm an actuary; I can work anywhere.'
