Some of you may or may not know that I had major foot surgery last month and have been non weight bearing in a full cast since (the surgery was correctional for something done last summer) so as one might imagine I've not been able to do anything except, read, surf the internet, and watch TV. While I was recovering last year I got hooked on Disney Channel. Now this summer I've started watching the animated series Kim Possible and have become addicted to it! The animation is great, the dialogue is awesome, the villains are pretty cool, and I love Ron and Kim...and Rufus is cute! It actually reminds me a little of Buffy...in a weird way. Tell me that I'm not alone in my new found love of this show? I recently watched the series finale...which disappointed me that there is not going to be any more Kim Possible...and am intrigued about how a live action movie would do, with god help me for suggesting this since its going to annoy a lot of people, Miley Cyrus as Kim?
Hey there Admiral Young, welcome to the family of
Kim Possible fandom! I've been a fan since the show was about to premiere in 2001 (I read about it in
Starlog magazine) and after I saw it, I was hooked! I LOVE Kim Possible, Ron Stoppable and Rufus, as well as Timothy & Anne Possible (Mom & Dad to Kim) and everyone else, villains included. The show grew and got better season after season, and the conclusion is the best series finale for an animated show ever. Plus, I've noticed that this show is somewhat like an inverse of
Get Smart, in that '99' (Kim) is the hero, and 'Max' (Ron) is the sidekick whose bumbling messes things up, but also save the day because of 'The Ron Factor'. The show also has nods to characters like Derek Flint and Modesty Blaise-especially Modesty Blaise, with her sidekick Willy being somewhat of an inspiration for Ron.
As for a live-action movie...the idea is doable, but not with Miley Cyrus, who is too busy being
Hannah Montana on that show for it to work, as well as already identifiable with said character.
If she were younger, I'd cast Christy Carlson Romano as Kim, with
Will Friedle as Ron, but both are too old at this time to do it, and doing other things as well, so Disney will have to do a live action movie with newcomers selected by a talent search.
If you want to know what kind of fandom
Kim Possible's got, check out this website (
Ron Stoppable's Awesome Website); it's the best fan website ever! This site is a lot like Trek Nation and Trekweb, and its patrons were instrumental in getting the show revived for a fourth season after Joel Eisner (the Rick Berman of Disney) enforced a bullshit '65 episodes only' rule that caused the fans to protest and get the show back on the air. Check it out-you won't be disappointed.
There is a season one boxset (with more coming I think), but that is only in German (Kim Possible does very well in Germany!)
No surprise about that; I barely saw any action figures at the Disney store here in Toronto, and when one
did come out, I couldn't afford it at the time. That's why there won't be a live action movie, I think.
