Your all good i think i will ask this be moved over to fan fic so we can still have some fun with this....
please provide links..... tythere are also fan clubs already doing this
This sounds like an incredible setup for a fan fiction! Here’s a questionnaire!!
+ If you fill this out and basically. reply to this and I like the answers. That'll be the characters main sheet going forward. If two people answer and I like 50 per cent of one and 50% of the other, I will pick and choose where I'd like. But let's see what you all come up with, Sir, for some very interesting characters. And if you make one that doesn't become the main character, I'll almost guarantee I'll use them as a side character. So if you're willing to set this up, you can even use your handle here. or your stage name or whatever you want to call it. Your Internet name, and I'll throw that into the fanfic if this ever gets made. We'll see if I can at least get at least 1 if not 2 people. They'll throw me a bone here and actually not just poo poo on it, but actually come up and go. OK, I'll put my money where my mouth is, if you fill out the form. Thanks. And this actually could be fun. I'm not too sure. Let's see if you guys interacted a little bit more.
- Home Star System & City: Where in the Star Trek universe did your character grow up? Describe the city or outpost for a touch of backstory flavor.
- Species: Which Federation or Star Trek race are they from? Are they classic human, or something more alien like Vulcan, Andorian, or Bajoran? (Non-Federation species like Romulan or Klingon might add drama!)
- Rank & Specialization: Aside from being a lawyer, what was their previous role in Starfleet? Were they a bridge officer, or did they work in a specific department that impacts their approach to life on Earth?
- Time Period Origin: What year were they taken from in the Star Trek universe? Is this character from the time of Captain Archer, Captain Kirk, or even Captain Janeway?
- Arrival Point on Earth: Where on Earth do they materialize? Is it a quiet Midwestern town, a bustling European city, or a secluded island? The setting can impact how isolated or connected they feel.
- Personality & Values: What drives them to believe Earth can achieve the ideals of Starfleet? Are they an idealist, a reformer, or someone who thrives on logical problem-solving? This will shape their approach to “converting” Earth.
- Major Challenge on Earth: What's the first socio-political obstacle they notice? Are they shocked by pollution, discrimination, political divides, or maybe even by humanity's reluctance to explore space?
- Earth-Aligned Skills or Resources: What skills or Starfleet tech do they retain? Maybe they’re familiar with advanced tech, diplomacy, or even universal law that might give them an edge.
- Secret Flaw or Achilles Heel: Do they have a hidden fear or limitation that could be a struggle in this new world? It could be a fear of water, an inability to comprehend money, or even a deep dislike of deception.
- Key Allies: Who might be their allies on Earth? (This could include people who share their ideals, curious scientists, or young dreamers interested in space and peace.)
- Outlook on Starfleet & Humanity’s Potential: What's their perspective on humanity’s place among the stars? Are they optimistic, skeptical, or cautiously hopeful about building a Starfleet-like organization on Earth?
AMSAT: an international group that builds amateur radio satellites. The first non-governmental, non-commercial satellite was OSCAR 1 back in 1961.. and they're still building and launching OSCARs today. Get into ham radio, get a liscence, get involved. And use the OSCARs. That's one way.So what organizations already do this currently?
Apparently we need:In the world of Trek, Starfleet emerged as a product of a mature Humanity that got its act together on Earth first.
There was a WWIII yes, but after it ended, FC with the Vulcans told Humans they weren't alone in the galaxy, so they doubled back to fix Earth first and then push out into the galaxy.
Poverty, war and disease were all gone in the 50 years after FC happened. And because the Vulcans were skiddish (to say the least) in giving a 'post global war humanity' some more advanced knowledge out of worry they could potentially turn on them, Humanity had to do things itself.
An organisation like SF has certain principles and ideals that endure over time - we've seen this in the SF before the Federation formed - so a lot of the initial values it already upheld continued in the post UFP SF (refined, etc. after initial period of exploration).
Point being, socio-economically speaking, our civilisation right now is nowhere near the point where it could 'get its act together' and solve most of the problems we have (which was doable for pretty much over a century) so we could begin forming something like Starfleet and not mess it up eventually.
There is no global unification, there is massive division still, conflicts happening, people dying of starvation, homelessness and preventable diseases (despite the fact we had the means to eliminate those problems long ago).
If we can't find a way to get along on Earth, how do you expect us to get along in space and have an organisation with high minded ideals when the people who would be in it are still stuck with outdated mentalities and ways of doing things?
Of course, I'm not saying that there aren't people who aren't 'ready'... but you can't pull something like that off with the mindset we have now, because even if it starts out that way, without a change in the socio-economic system, it will simply be warped into something else (and potentially worse).
