I would like people's opinions on this Australian video that has been on You Tube for just over a week. In that time it has had more than 3 million views.

Seemed pretty obvious from the outset once I'd realised that the camera was another person's pov that the other person would be his male partner. Seems innocuous to me.

I read about it before I saw it so I knew before I viewed it that it was about two men. I did want to see how obvious it was to people who didn't know of it before hand.

It was made in a leadup to the Australian Labor's Party national conference during which members of the ALP were able to vote on whether the Party should endorse legalising gay marriage or not.

Well done. Sad that things like that still need to be done, but it shows that progress is being made.

It's been a massive hit across the blogs, picked up by just about every LGBT-interest site out there. I believe there's a petition to get it shown in the States as well. People have been tracking down the main actor (who it turns out is actually straight - boo!) and promoting his other work.

It's certainly a beautiful short film, but I suppose it just doesn't have the effect on me because I'm not the intended audience. Its message is one that is so blindingly obvious to me that I just kind of shrug and check out the actor's shirtless shots. But then I'm not the one who needs to see it.

Either way, it's very well done.

I saw this about a week ago, a Canadian friend actually pointed it out to me. It wasn't obvious to me what the message was until the end, but that may be because this particular friend almost always posts music videos, so I was paying close attention to the music thinking that that's why she sent me the video. It's very sweet and makes a great point. I like it.
