It's Over :(

Okay Danoz, I have to ask, now that you've seen the whole show, who do you prefer? Jadzia, or Ezri?

Look, sure it was a "ok" series, but never approached the depth of TNG, or even Voyager. In my opinion, the acting, as well as characters were spotty at best. Way too much fantasy, and not enough sci-fi.
Still a decent show though....much better than
enterprise

Lol didn't approach the depth of Voyager? This is how we can tell you haven't watched DS9 from start to finish

Four months ago I ordered season one of DS9 on Netflix, and tonight I finished the series finale. Never before have I loved a series this much. The characters, the stories. I had the privilege of watching the series from the first episode with no spoilers, previews, or knowledge of any future events-- making the series all the more interesting. I'm really, really going to miss this show a lot... by far my favorite trek for its complexities, continuity, depth of characters and story and respect for science fiction. I'm glad I was able to watch them the way I have-- it's such an amazing story. As much as I love the other treks, their stories take place in compartments-- collections of mini stories with little flow from episode to episode. Ds9, however, is one story... I loved it.

I've been avoiding this forum up to this point to stay away from spoilers, I'm sure I'll be around now :). Finishing series has never been so bittersweet.

I guess you could always try the show DS9 basically stole all its story ideas from?

Not helping. If you wanna continue the War Without End, do it somewhere else. Although I assure you that Neroon has just as much tolerance for it as I do - meaning NONE.

Thanks.

That's a pretty ironic comment.

Wait, wait......Voyager has depth?

Huh.

I must have missed that when I was too busy staring at Seven of Nine's, um, "implants".

Don't make the mistake of assuming all the religious stuff is fantasy crap. As much as I initially disliked all the Bajoran religious fanatic episodes, I've come to realize something. Unlike Earth religions which are all built on faith without a shred of proof that our gods even exist, the Bajoran gods/wormhole aliens or whatever you call them are very real. They teach the Bajorans with orbs, they come to you in visions, they even take physical form to effect change.

All these have allowed me to look at religion from a different perspective and its one of the things I appreciate about DS9.

^ that premise assumes that you have read up on (or practiced) ALL of Earth's religions.

(read, there ARE more religions on Earth than just Islam, Christianity, and Judaism, ya know). ;)

I'm from a multi-cultural country of Singapore and have friends from many different races and religions. As a result, I am somewhat familiar with the various forms of Christianty, Islam, Hinduism, Taoism, Buddhism as well as several minor cults. In so far as I know, none of these religions have truly solid proof that their gods exist and I am almost very sure that these gods do not routinely interact with its faithful the way the Prophets do.

I do concede, I do not have much knowledge about other religions and could be jumping to conclusions. If so, can you point to me a religion where their gods do interact with their faithful?

And what would that be? :wtf:

I loved Jadzia's character... but I think Ezri's character was a few seasons too late to really be developed to the degree Jadzia was... and I found the Worf/Ezri drama out of place and annoying in the context of the war.

Tulin is in all likelihood refering to Babylon 5. Both were space operas on space stations that had an emphasis on galactic politics, story arcs, and warfare and have a number of other, more pertinent similarities.

Whether or not DS9 stole from B5 is an old and bitter argument; but despite the similarities it probably did not.

Just ignore him, please. There is no proof of any misdoings whatever - just idle speculation on the part of certain fans who insist upon dividing DS9 fans and B5 fans for sport so that they can yuck it up while everyone fights endlessly over things that no one can prove one way or the other.

Neroon and I have, however, been making a deliberate, concerted effort over the years to put an end to what we call The War Without End (named after a B5 episode) between DS9 fans and B5 fans...which is one reason why there is the Babylon 5 thread permanently stuck to the top of this forum. ;)

More and more people are beginning to appreciate that both shows are excellent...and that it is incredibly DUMB to fight over two shows, both of which they have the opportunity to enjoy.

Glad you enjoyed it Danoz

DS9 was great Trek and it was really fun when I watched it on DVD when it felt like the first time going through the entire series. It's never accessible, so that was why I got the DVDs and glad I did. I haven't seen much of it lately since I've been working on TNG, but when I have time in 2008, I'm probably going back to DS9.

Hey, I don't know if PK will agree to this, but in the TNG forum, we've been having a Journey thread where everyone who participated has been going through the series and posting thier thoughts. We did that as kind of a way to celebrate the 20th anniversary, but it's been fun. Anyone want to do that for DS9 maybe later in 2008?

^ I wouldn't be opposed to that at all. In fact, I was thinking just the other day about how fun it was to watch the whole series together when we did it back in 2003.

These days, when I pull out my DS9 DVDs, I tend to watch the same episodes over and over - all my favorites in loose rotation. But there are some episodes of DS9 I haven't seen since 2003, and I would really love to watch them again...if I had people to watch them with. I mean, it's not much fun for me to watch Valiant by myself, for example - all the fun in watching that episode is in posting in here about it!
