you're sitting down and anxiously waiting for this new Star Trek movie to start! Waiting, waiting, waiting, hurry up da*n trailers! Ok, now the movie starts. While watching this movie, are you going to (answer poll questions)

I'm surprised "Watch for continuity mistakes" hasn't been chosen yet.

I'd go with a hot date, too, but I've already been on several of those. This film is only going to be at the theatre once in a lifetime :) Plenty more hot dates to chose from.

Although I chose that I'll probably compare the new actors with the originals. Did that with Superman Returns and Batman Begins.

I am pretty sure for a lot of us, it will be some combination of a lot of the above. Any fan of the show is going to compare the new actors to the old, and most of the diehards will look for continuity gaffes, assuming there are any(and I am sure people will find them). Even if this film sucks, it won't be the end of Trek, at least not for me as long as my DVD player works.

I'll watch it for what it is. I've liked what I've heard and seen so far, and I'm willing to bet I'll probably be entertained.

I suppose I'll compare it to the original to some degree, that can't be helped, but all in all, I'm gonna try to go in with an open mind.

I chose the first option - although, if the fates allow, I will try to combine it with a hot date.

May 9 in the U.S. perhaps, but by the time it opens in Japan it will be old news. So how many people will be flying to the U.S. to see The Movie on opening day? Will the airlines be putting on extra flights, maybe Star Trek specials with the stews in Starfleet uniforms serving raktajino?

I'll wait a bit until I have an afternoon off, then catch a matinee showing. I'll definitely see it in the theaters, something I very rarely do; I just can't handle being packed in there like cattle. Like noisy, smelly, seat rocking, screen blocking cattle. Then again with OCD, I'm lucky I can even sit in those seats without burning my cloths and spending the next week and a half in the shower. What, no voting option for that?

Special glasses will be handed out so everyone can see it in a positive light.

Well, I will definitely watch the film for what it is (and I have a feeling I will enjoy it).

However, there will be a part of me that will compare the new actors with the originals and part of me that will watch for continuity mistakes. Then I will probably find something minor about which to complain on TrekBBS.

I don't think those are mutually exclusive ideas.

If I had to chose one, it would be "Watch it for what it is".

Probably all of the above choices.

I think all of us that post here will be comparing and analyzing the movie to what came before. It would be hard not to. For me, though, that stuff won't interfere with me trying to enjoy the movie. Little continuity gaffes like the color of Kirk's hair or the shape of the ship's deflector dish won't ruin the movie for me.

However, if the Enterprise has a third warp nacelle that rotates...somebody's gonna pay for that.

Watch the film for what it is.

My dissection of it will start after the first viewing BUT I will always judge it by my recollections of the first viewing, if that was fun then I will always like it no matter the imperfections which appear during subsequent viewings.

Hopefully the "Trek is dead" option wont be true.

Good one darkshadow0001! :bolian:

Got a hot date...

The new movie will be available for a rainy weekend rental soon enough.
