Personally I'm hoping for a Damit Jim, I'm a doctor not a [fill in the blank] from McCoy as well as a He's dead Jim.
The J.M. Dillard novelization of GENERATIONS featured this great scene of Spock and McCoy mourning for Kirk in a Starfleet multifaith chapel on Earth following the tragedy on the Enterprise-B. If only Nimoy and Kelley had been in the movie itself and filmed this. It would have been extremely touching for a TREK film scene...and great, memorable Deleted Scene fodder for future DVDs.

I have this novel on audio as read by DeLance and that scene and a few others that aren't in the film are awesome. They should've been in the film. In another great story, ST:TNG:Crossover, Spock comes to the realization that for Unification to occur, not only should the Romulans try to become more like their Vulcan brethren, but the opposite as well. A display of emotion by a Vulcan, especially one as enlightened as Spock, is hardly unheard of and certainly likely should the elder Spock meet up with young Kirk in the past after so many years.

One of GENERATIONS' failings from Day One was the lack of Nimoy and Kelley in the film. Doohan and Koenig were serviceable replacements, but as beloved as they are Scotty and Chekov are no Spock and McCoy, especially in relation to how close they were to Kirk in his life. And Doohan's bitterness and antagonism towards Shatner in real life always colors how Scotty reacts to thinking Kirk has been killed in the movie. You never 100% buy it.

Really? I thought Doohan's acting as Scotty learning of Kirk's death were excellent. When Demora announces the breach includes Deck 15, I felt a chill when I saw Scotty's knowing reaction. When Chekov meets him and Harriman in the deflector room and the Russian sees the breech and asks if anyone was in there, Doohan's emotional, yet simple, "Aye," was delivered perfectly. I know most, if not all of the lines were written for Spock and McCoy but some worked very well for Scotty and Chekov.
True. Sulu, Chekov and Uhura never called the captain by his first name or "Jim." Not once. It was always "Captain," "Admiral" or "sir" with them, even in very intimate and familiar settings out of uniform.
I'd bet money on it...

I would think he'd be more likely to say "It is agreeable to see you again", as he did with Sarek.
