Is Trek popular enough to be a Summer Blockbuster?

We can hang out with people who put their asses in seats to ensure another movie at minimum, and probably at least another tv series. This ain't the sixties anymore, nor the (TNG) touchy-feely 80's-90's. Embrace it...., live with it.

I was joking a bit. I think a new Trek TV series would be great. Anyway I don't think its possible to make a tv series the same way as a summer blockbuster popcorn action movie. For one thing, a tv series don't have the budget nor the time for the cgi and special effects. The movie was good but a TV series would have to provide more thoughtful storylines. Higher on the drama/exploration/social commentary scale imo.

Great! Hollywood executive have been able to pull down Star Trek to the lowest common denominator to make it a blockbuster. Yippi!! ;)

A great victory for us trek fan. We can now hang out with teenagers at the skateboard rink and discuss movies with the ID4 crowd. ;)

ID4 Crowd? That was what...13 years ago? That's when I was a teenager.

ID rather not hang out with them anyway, there as bad as Voyagers you cant talk to fans of only this movie, they have no idea what there talking about.

It would be easier to understand what you're talking about if you'd make a more studied attempt at standard English.

Sorry, they still won't let nerds hang out with them.
You've just smashed his dreams, be sensitive!

From what I gather from the responses related to the new Trek movie by the people on this forum. I think, it is the dream of us all.

While maintaining all those years that Star Trek was so much better than Star Wars, we all on the inside all just wanted to be accepted by the reality TV crowd. ;)

Ultimately, everybody wants to be accepted by someone, even if they realize it or not. ;)

We did?

Why is "I like this more" so much harder a formulation for people than "This is better?"

Because humans instinctively view the universe as what happens inside their brain. The idea that time and happenings exist outside the sphere of influence of a person didn't become widespread (again, see the Greeks) until after the Middle Ages.

[eidt]Gah, nevermind that was too harsh. It's just harder because people view their view as the universe's view.[/edit]

IMO, every sentence on these forums comes with an implied IMO that people forget to add.

Then we've had five or six hundred years to get over it. I'm only in my fifties.
