Is there an "official" former members inquiry topic?

Is The Lonesome Ensign aka Teelie still around? And what about Lightening? And has anyone been in contact with Stastny after she took on that job in a hospital around 2003?
And since avatar creators were mentioned - what became of Aurian? And of CaptainNoHair and Dohlman and The Matrix Man aka tmm3k?

There are quite a few posters in the "I wonder where / how they are?" category for me, but the one who springs to mind today is Etched. A really lovely person, and she made great avatars. I hope all's well with her.

One disappearance that always left me scratching my head was Temis of Vorta. Possibly one of the most thoughtful, articulate and prolific posters and then ... *poof*, gone. Anyone know what happened?

Q2
I have a vague memory of her mentioning she'd gotten engaged (it was unusual for her to mention anything much about herself; maybe that's why it got my attention). Perhaps she just decided to get one of those weird life thingys as a result. Hopefully it's something like that; she was a fixture here for a long time.

I know she was not universally loved in her era of Adminship, but I remember some good chats on ICQ with Lisa. I wonder what she's up to these days.

I remember him. I'd made his evil Mary Poppins simple animated avatar.

I have a vague recollection of him taking a busy turn in life and just wasn't going to have much time to revisit TBBS.
I remember him in regards to his avatar.

I went through a phase way back when I missed my Misc group and the fun we had. They were a good bunch.

But Internet life proceeds at a rapid rate, much quicker than in real life. Friendships form rapidly and dissolve rapidly; people come, stay for a while and go. Life gobbles them up or they just get tired of being in the same place.

You have to accept that to stay sane online. Just like in life, no use wishing back the past. If you're happy where you're at, either in real life or online, there is no need to go backwards anyhow - only forward.

^ For that reason, I've aimed to take the same level of involvement, realizing that Internet friends are inherently transient. Far more tenuous than real-life ones. Case in point, I'd developed a friendship with a member of a different forum site where we saw things very much the same. We had many great exchanges over the course of a few years. I almost felt like I had a "real friend"... and then suddenly he changed direction. The forum subject matter was no longer a keen hobby of his. He began to indulge elsewhere. And then I hardly ever heard from him... as he didn't have time for his old hobby any longer. Our relationship was solely based on a common interest. With that interest no longer in common, there was nothing... even though we'd come to know about each other's lives. And I did begin to realize that without that shared interest, there wasn't much tying us together. Our lives were not only geographically different, but also in different phases (he has a wife and 2 kids, I'm single). And I had absolutely no interest in his new hobby. C'est la vie.

Honestly? Online is like letter-writing use to be. You're pen pals. You can develop a relationship but it may or may not last. Some do cross over into RL and work out long-term, some do not.

I've lost some good online friends over time who drifted away (and I've done my own drifting too) and I've made some friends over the years who have crossed over into RL (albeit at a distance) friends.

Welcome back, Decker :) Long time no see

I think groups of online friends wanting to stay in contact is the reason why so many spin-off boards were founded. Many of their members left but the few remaining ones are very close.
There are quite a few that due to the distance and costs I'll never be able to visit but I'd nevertheless count them as RL friends. IMHO friendship is something purely ideational, something that happens in the mind and doesn't necessarily require physical interaction (of the non-sexual kind!! Geez, you do have dirty minds ;)) People don't get any different or less loveable only because they are far away.

I miss one poster who was banned, purely for the batshit crazy stuff he came out with (some of his theories and rants had me in stitches)! He was banned a few times and came back before becoming very threatening to members/admin--of which he wanted to be.

Tachy? AKA Tachyon Shield and later, All Seeing Eye?
He was also posting crazy stuff in Sci/Tech and Trek Tech.
It was entertaining.

Former staff that stick in my head fondly include SpacemanSpiff and where'sSaavik?. They seem to have passed beyond the rim. Civilians include StarscreamX/CaptainWacky (had a mention of him already on one of these threads), BlazerBoy, PraetorX, Mogh. Some other notables... Dennis Bailey, a poster who went by the name Robert Loggia but wasn't the real one). So many names... I'm sure I missed a bunch!

CaptainWacky (spelled without an h, btw) is still around, on occasion. As a matter of fact he's listed as one of my followers *bows* and was last seen yesterday.
